I am a new seller, and have sold 1 vintage leather coach with no issues, this one I got 3 offers on, but then I got dinged as it being fake? I checked the seams,, creed,, matched the serial number to bag (although I could not find it in this color) .
Would you experts let me know please, I don't want to post it anywhere else if it is indeed fake.
I tried to get a good pic of the creed but the number is D2J-9983

Its fake. Having the same serial number as other purses doesnt prove anything. Its the actual stamping, formatting and code details of the creed stamp and serial number that are important, and yours fails at least one of those tests. That serial number would never have been used in a genuine Coach made in the US. And 95 percent of information on the internet is completely wrong or just plain useless.
You should authenticate your highly-faked brands before listing them.

May I ask how you became so knowledgeable?

Ah, I see what I missed now using the info you provided, thank you so much! I will use this forum from now on to check my bags before posting.

Thirty years of buying Coaches and more than 15 years of authenticating them. Plus, Ive learned when to stay silent and learn from other people who know more than I do.
Having a massive collection of catalogs and text and photo files doesnt hurt either.

I ask because since you say most info on the internet is misinformation, who by the way all typically say they have been collecting for awhile as well (I specifically got my info from somebody who says they have been collecting since the 70s), so it was fair for me to ask how you got your education as well.
And I understand why some people don't want to leave details on exactly what is wrong, but it is also completely unnecessary to say fake along with a snarky comment. If people are coming on here to ask for advice they obviously DO NOT want to sell fake bags, or they made an honest mistake in attempting to sell one. If it bothers you to help people, then why do it. Your "assistance" seems to come with a huge chip on your shoulder.

I'm not @fashionclubgurl but I can speak for myself and what I have to say is probably similar to her feelings.
If you reread her reply to you, you'll see that there's nothing snarky and no indication of a chip on her shoulder. Her comments are brief, factual and to the point. The facts are that:
1. the bag is fake
2. the internet is full of "authenticity guides" written by anyone who cares to take the time to write one. No one verifies that these guides are correct and in fact, among several sites I post on, I've seen at least a dozen guides that have more misinformation than accurate info.
3. US trademark law (and ebay policy) forbid the sale of fakes, knowingly or not. It's a fact (not snark) that it is a seller's responsibility to find out whether an item is legal BEFORE listing.
Here on the boards, you're dealing with posters with different personalities, different customs, often from different countries and different posting styles. You aren't going to get the same style of response from all these different variables. Nor are you going to always get agreement on your opinions. But disagreement doesn't necessarily mean disrespect; just that we perceive an issue differently.
As for your other comments about the purpose of the boards, although this may have been your first removal and you truly made an honest mistake, we've been posting on these boards (originally called clothing, shoes, accessories prior to fashion) and on other handbag websites for over 15 years.
There have been hundreds of sellers whose listings of "1000% items" were removed as counterfeit. Although it happens occasionally that an authentic item is removed, most removals are not done in error.
We've also seen posters come here complaining of removals of items that had come with COAs. (COA = certificate of authenticity) There are several companies that claim to be professional authentication services that have been found to have made many mistakes.
For example, there's a fairly well know company that uses (what they call) Artificial Intelligence to authenticate items. Presumably, they've fed a bunch of information into a computer and when they authenticate a bag, they compare details of the item in question to the "bunch of information" they've collected.
The problem is that they have no clue that some or many of their comps are fakes! And as such, other fakes are being deemed authentic. And because some authentic items don't match their examples, the authentic items are deemed to be fake!
And because this company isn't adjusting its algorithms, more and more errors are being made.
Another issue is that anyone can open a company and call themselves "authentication services" and some of these companies are erring also.
Keep in mind that no one can be expert in all brands and items so unless a company uses brand specialists or unless a company only does one brand, mistakes are going to happen.
As @fashionclubgurl recommended, simply verify your items before listing and you won't have this problem.

All of my comments were factual and based on long experience AND extensive research. Just being a collector doesnt make anyone an expert. But dont worry, I wont insult you by authenticating any more of your purses.

Sadly, that’s how many posters feel on this forum, you’re not alone.

Oh don’t worry, If I was a new poster I would go elsewhere. I don’t see much ‘expertise’ here at all.

What chip or snarky comment are you talking about? I didn't see any of that.
