eBay Structured Data Initiative

Its crystal clear to me that whomever is in charge of the additional structured data for electronics does not have any experience as an electrical engineer,  audio engineer, purchasing agent for an electronics company, design of electronics, hardware,  audiophile, professional musician, musician, radio engineer or any other practical sales or marketing experience in selling such goods.

In addition it is also clear, that the effort designed to help eBay provide structured data to search engines for the purpose of attracting more sales from "outside of eBay i.e.google search" or any other search, will actually serve to hamper same.

Why? the data set will  contain  superfluous and in many cases incorrect data that will not make sense, confuse, and hamper more technically defined and correct search engines and therefore will not improve our chances of selling but rather hamper it.  Accuracy is everything.

Does anyone else see this as a problem?

BTW- I see the same thing in hardware, tools, and much more.

Dave

eBay Structured Data Initiative

Yes it is a problem.  After reviewing a few of my home audio video listing it was clear that many of the new item specifics are either wrong or poorly thought through.  On top of that no attempt at all is made to migrate field data to their new comparable fields.  And some of the new fields are much less helpful that those they are meant to replace.

Its just like the October apparel fiasco.
