I noticed that there are currently a couple of antique dolls with this same marking listed but when ascertaining a value, you need to consider how your doll compares to one(s) that have sold. For example, typically the most important aspect of an antique German bisque head doll is the condition of the head. So you need to (carefully) remove the pate and wig and shine a flashlight in the head in a dark/darkened room so you can detect any potential hairline fractures or repairs that aren't obviously apparent. I think your doll has sleep eyes, but I can't tell from the picture. Many times the sleep mechanism has broken over the years and the eyes have been set in and are stationary. That is okay but needs to be considered. Also, I think your doll has an open mouth with teeth, but I can't tell from the picture. A closed mouth doll with no teeth is more desirable than one with teeth, but I don't know if that mold number was made without teeth. Original is best in regard to wig and your doll seems to have an original wig (not a good idea ever to replace an original wig with a modern one made of synthetic fibers). The condition of the body is important as well; it's another point for comparing your doll to one that has sold. The clothing on your doll appears to be antique and probably made specifically for that doll, which is far more desirable than reproduction clothing. If you would like to add more photos of the doll so that I can see everything (!) better, I can help you in appraising it. The doll looks very charming as is.

Your doll appears to be a German bisque head, circa 1890's-1910's.

Your doll is an antique German Kestner bisque head doll marked 7 1/2 148 with kid leather body. Everything that I can see from the doll (the wig, the pate, the clothing, the body) appears to be contemporary to the doll.

Thank you. Do you have any recommendations on how to get it appraised?

Thanks -- I will take a few more pictures of the doll and post in a few days. Thanks again.
