What Would You Do???

About a month ago I received a package from a buyer.  Inside were about 8 or 10 little lead Dept 56 Snowbabies.  I never bought them ... they just arrived.  So I emailed her and said gee, did you mean to gift these to me?  She emailed back, no I don't know how you got them ... I returned them in the same box they came in.  Yes, I said I see, I have the invoice I sent you for the purchase you made from me but these were not what you bought from me.  I asked her to give me a return address and I will let her know what postage will cost to return them to her.  (no way am I paying to return them to her) ... many emails later I still have no address from her.  She has ignored my last five emails ... today I told her that if I don't hear from her by tomorrow I will consider the items mine and will put them up for sale ... possession is 9/10 of the law!  I have yet to hear back from her.

What would you do?

What Would You Do???

Well, I contacted eBay this morning and explained the situation to them ... the lady I spoke with said I should NOT sell them on eBay as it could come back someday that I sold stolen items ... I told her I did not steal these ... they were sent to me in error and I have tried to get the sender to pay me to return them ... still the lady at eBay said I cannot sell them on ... she said I should continue to hold on to them in case this woman ever does finally come through with a response to my emails.

So, I guess even though possession is 9/10 of the law ... I can't do anything with these except to hold them for an indeterminate amount of time.

Hogwash!

That is so odd. I guess I'd just hold on to them a while.

That's what the woman at ebay said .... just hold on to them ... my phone call raised a red flag for them and they checked out my listings and pulled my rolex replica watch that was up to 20.00 and had 14 watchers.  Rules and regulations say you cannot sell a knockoff or replica or reproduction on ebay.  My listing totally disappeared.

Oh well, guess you gotta play by the rules even if they seem unfair ...

Of course your old friend DWB has an old saying that may fit into this.

"Keep The Confusion Organized"

Hard to believe all the rules and regulations that businesses must obey these days.

Was in my own business all thru my working years. To start that same business today would be impossible.

So many rules and regulations these days the only business one can start would be one that is inventing new rules and regulations. :^O

Please keep us updated on this one wow its interesting.

I have not heard from the woman who sent me the package ... guess I will just hold on to them.

I am out of luck on the knock off Rolex ... there is no way you can list a replica.

What can I say DWB ... sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches!

Here's an odd one for you ... and again ... what would you do?

I bought a CD ... it arrived yesterday ... the label is addressed to me or Current Resident!  Like a piece of junk mail!  I was appalled to say the least ... I emailed the seller and voiced my opinion on the danger of including Or Current Resident ... package could have been misdelivered ... or maybe I might have moved ... or whatever ... I got an email back from the seller ... a BIG seller with employees (WOW) who addressed the postage rates!  So I sent them another email this morning saying that they missed the point.  Oh well, at least I voiced my opinion.  I have NEVER seen a label on a package from an ebay purchase before ... ever.

We always look at the feedback of a seller before buyin anything. Some of them are selling massive amounts of stuff. But getting massive  amounts of negatives.

Then there's those who are obviously someone at home trying to make a few dollars. We try to buy from those type sellers.

Yeah, I think I agree with you on this DWB ... I was looking for the best price and really not considering the seller.

It's like supporting small businesses ... which is something we try to do ... I need to be more attentive to that detail when buying on ebay.

What I would do is seal up the box it came in and just write onthe package...RETURN TO SENDER.

When I get confused about something like this I go into the Ebay chat. It can be found under "contact us" under the help menu.

I ask them what to do. After they respond request them to email you a copy of the chat. Then save it to a "resolution folder".  This way you always have ebay on your side.

Before buying anything on ebay now, we ask a question. If they do not respond before we even buy it, they will be less friendly after we do buy there. We go elsewhere. 🙂

Lots of small home sellers that are real nice to buy from. They are trying to feed kids or pay bills. Nice to go there.

Sure enjoy this group,

DWB

Yes, my lesson learned was to investigate buyers a little better before I buy ... not just go for the lowest price.

Live and learn ...

Some of the members in this group are people I met buying and selling here on Ebay.

Word at the power seller group is ebay is removing some of these sellers with high negatives and high item strikes. A few of them who were tossed from ebay are complaining on the P/S board. They are not getting much sympathy.

Clicking on their negatives every buyer is complaining about the same things. No communictions. Not as described. Took forever to get it. And other things that would tell us all to stay away from that seller.

However, just cause a seller gets negatives it don't mean they are a bad seller. If you click on the Negatives number they have received you can read what the buyer said about them. Many times it is some little trivial thing. They just have some of those bad buyers we all seem to come across now and then.

We buy on ebay all the time. Works out well,

DWB

I agree DWB, a little research goes a long way ... learned that on one of my last purchases on eBay ...  bought a CD from a way too big of a seller ... good price but lousy shipping and way off the mark customer service.  Trying to buy from the smaller sellers like myself .... or those of us in here who are trying to help make ends meet.
