There are a lot of crooks out there. Gee whiz that's sad I am sorry to hear this happened to you.

Good information for our group to hear about.

Well, I really did learn a lesson ... like I said ... no more foreclosure sales for me.  At least when I have my garage sale I list as an eBayer's garage sale.  I do believe in being honest ... elsewise it comes back to bite you!

Selling Issues And Tips

Grew up in a place where it was wall to wall corruption. My ultimate goal as a child was to become "the opposite" of what I witnessed during my growing up years.

That goal was easily reached just being kind to everyone. It gives me pleasure to be this way.

One thing I noticed about the corupt people. They are all un-happy. Always looking over their shoulder. Unable to look you in the eye. They had lots of health problems. They were miserable.

All of my children, grandchildren, great grand children are doing what DWB asked them to do. Be kind and postitive to others.

Todays posting from your old friend DWB. 😄

I'm still getting the free auction listings even though I don't have a store any more. Still have my Power Seller status so I guess that's why. Haven't been able to list anything because of all the problems with the house and my health.

Selling Issues And Tips

There are so many issues that come to play with the best time for listing auctions.

Take this week, for instance - I usually list to end on Fridays or Sundays, have added Mondays to the mix.  But Friday is Good Friday and Sunday Easter, not likely to be great for my auctions!

I forgot all about it when I listed this week, or I'd never have listed  - happens with my brain like a sieve.

The only day I've ever heard was one best not to list/end on was Wednesday.  Don't know why, just heard it was not!

Oops, I have auctions ending on Friday and Sunday, too. Thanks for the reminder, Peggy... I never thought about the holiday at all.

I'm going to hope some buyers put in bids before then, or don't observe the holidays. 🙂

I had thought that eBay no longer allowed you to change the duration of a running auction. But I discovered last night you can change the duration to an earlier date. I had many auctions ending on Sunday, and wanted to spread them out to other days this week (not even thinking about Easter Sunday).

I tested it, and sure enough was able to change the duration to shorter than 7 days.

I thought Tuesday was the bad day...only because that used to be the day ebay gave everyone a break on insertion fees.

I used to hold off on auctions ending on holidays but I found that a lot of people get home from wherever...or sneak onto their computers...and get their bids in. Hope that's still the case and you do well!

Happy Easter and Happy Passover.

Selling Issues And Tips

This is neither an issue or a tip ... just a great experience.  I bought a CD and it got lost in the mail ... these things happen ... I was bummed but couldn't blame the seller.  Told her so in an email ... well, this seller is sending me another CD by the same artist ... not the same CD as she didn't have another but still sending me a replacement CD.  She didn't have to do  this as the tracking number shows it delivered ... we just don't know where!I I thought I would share this and show that there are still some great sellers out there!

Selling Issues And Tips

For sure, there are lots of great buyers and sellers out there.

Once I purchased some earrings that arrived mssing some pieces. When I wrote the seller, I was not requesting a refund or replacement, simply wanted them to be aware that there might be some problems with their shipping system.

Not only did they send me another pair of the same earrings, but they also sent a bonus pair. They didn't even want me to bother with sending the original back!

There are other incidents and with only an insignificant number of problems not solved in a simple, understanding manner with no hard feelings for all involved.

You tend to only hear about the problems, though. EBay is not alone in this, of course - it's the "squeaky wheel" that swallows the stone, I always say!?? ;o)

"it's the "squeaky wheel" that swallows the stone"

LOL... I come up with mixed metaphors all the time... and not intentionally. 😄

My husband really likes one that came out of my mouth one day when I said something was "a vicious snowball."

I still believe in old-fashioned customer service. I try to give it and appreciate when it's given to me. Whether in brick and mortar stores or online shopping, I much prefer when it feels like a transaction between two people and not just a passing of money and merchandise. Am I part of a dying breed or do many people feel that way?

We been givin people a money back guarantee since 1950.

Back in 1950 we did everything in the mail. The only other thing was Railway Express in the USA. They went bankrupt  around the early 1960s.

Postal service required us to wrap the packages in brown paper and tie it with twine in those days. Packages going overseas went by ship. They would take 3 months or more to arrive.

Still communicate with customers from the 1960s. These days with internet it is wonderful. Find some of my old friends and we just cheer about re-uniting.

This is DWB "Dances With Birds" you can probably tell by now. Feelin a little better. Just in time for Easter.

Sure hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

I am a real happy ol fella readin how kind you all are to one another. 😄

Selling Issues And Tips

I have problems with getting organized and staying on task with my depression. So my question is; there's a specific brand and type of clothing I'll be selling and there's so much people need to know about it such as the fact, it can all differ in design and not all sizes are true so dimensions will be given for each item, stretched and unstretched, most needs to be hand washed or on delicate cycle, etc...

I don't know anything about HTML and barely can type, we had little typing when I was in school.. Oops.. just gave my away:O

I want to beable to have all this info. already available to copy and paste, etc. to save on writing it with each item. I know I've got alot to learn. And this is by far the best group of people to ask. Lot's of thanks in advance

I use Turbo Lister. It's free and fairly easy to use. I also have a template I use in Word. I do all my details in word, then copy and paste into TL. There's probably an easier way to do it but I've been doing it this way for so long that it's easier to keep doing it than change.

I don't use Turbo Lister ... but I do keep a template in my Office documents for my descriptions ... that way I don't always have to write out my terms of sale.

Also, I would like to address the issue of watchers vs bidders.  I have watchers attached to over half my current listings ... but no bids.  All too often I put my faith in those watchers thinking they will become bidders but alas, they are frequently no sales.  Does anyone else see this trend?

How can I get Turbo lister? Is it part of Ebay? I am not computer literate in any way... I do not even know how to work spreadsheets or anything of that nature. Do you think it's best if I read up on this? I do have Microsoft Works spreadsheet but don't know much about it.

I'm embarassed to admit I do not know how to make a template in office docs.. I need something really easy or take computer classes. Maybe it's my age, 53???

Thanks Kate for your post:-)
