I think it would be fun to have a mannequin in the window ... it would certainly deter any prowlers.

It's so nice of you to help your neighbor Janet ...

Nice of you to be so considerate of your neighbor.

We run a neighborhood watch program in this region. Hold meetings at the VFW. Bring in good speakers for the events. Pack the place and everyone gets to know one another better.

Started a "disabled section" out back. Close knit group there too.

About 20 years ago we did some work on a maniquin so  it could be moved with a series of strings tied to it. We'd move it when people looked at it. :^O

People would ask who it is. We'd tell them it a woman who teaches martial arts that is staying here with us.

What a laugh that was.

Wouldn't it be fun to put a mannequin in a upstairs room like spooky old woman from the past rocking in her chair and if people asked who she was, just say, "what woman"????

   Oogh.. I'm scaring myself 😮

Selling Issues And Tips

My wife can not believe how at my age I am still playing these silly tricks. Always been this way.

Like the old woman up stairs. (what woman?) :^O

We have a big huge dog dish out front of our house. A monster chain with an old cattle clip on the end.  It looks like we must own a 200 pound monster dog. .... . . . We do not have a dog.....:^O

Selling Issues And Tips

I just posted 2 clothing items. This is the first in this catagory. Although, Sacred Threads are the main brand I'll be selling, I'm still stumped about how to go about the following things.

1- explaining that the clothing is never made the same since each piece is individually dyed and this causes variations. Also, the sizes are not always the regular S/M/L so much measuring is needed as stretched and unstretched. I can't make a template unless I use a word program or similar which I don't know.

2- and how to get it out there that I 'm selling Sacred Threads. I can't afford a store right now.

If you get time and want to browse my 1st two regular brand items and give me any FB, I'd appreciate any and will not take offense to anything.

LOVE THIS GROUP!!!

Selling Issues And Tips

Hi Janet,

Good job on your new items.

My wife was selling fabric on here in the past. She would always say in the listings:

"Colors vary in different computer monitors"

Cause she was getting people crowing about it not being the exact shade as in the pictures.

I always use common sense with most everything. Simple seems to work for me.

You could mention "sacred threads" in the headline. And in the description. This will help search engines find it.

Please let me know what does "a.n.a." mean in the headline? Being a man I don't know? 😄

Another thing you can try is doing a search for the type item you are listing on Google. See if you find them for sale out there. How much they sell for. Descriptions they use etc. May help you with the descriptions in the future.

Your items look fine the way they are. We can always find little ways to make them better over time. Maybe you could make it attract to men also who want to buy it for their significant other. Explain it to them.

Thanks for the words... Actually these are not sacred thread items and are a brand (a.n.a.) from J.C. Penneys.

I haven't listed any sacred thread items yet because they really take alot of work in getting the colors right and all measurements. I will write in all Sacred Thread listings that the colors vary and usually are not the exact. There are a couple who do sell Sacred Threads on Ebay and they really mark the prices up alot!!! I don't want to do that but I need to make money too. I'll let you know when I get some listed.

There is a lad ywho sells from a store, "sacred threads for less" or something like that and I will be below her prices. Shes' really high. I'll keep ya posted and thanks again...

Selling Issues And Tips

Oh help and bother ... I am in a quandry.  Can anyone explain to me how to set my account to away on vacation?  I found how to do this for a store but I only run auctions.  I have three or four items yet to be paid for ... I need them to know that I will be out of town.  Maybe I should just send them an email today that I need payment by Thursday for shipping by Friday or else there will be a three day delay due to my being out of town.  What do you think?

Here is the web page below where to set your vacation.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/placing-store-vacation.html#changing

You can set it up so they will receive a message response to any messages they send.

I like to choose the box where they are "unable to make a purchase".  It may still allow them to make bids I don't know rarely we do auctions.

You can create a message that will show at the top of the page where they view items. Its works better if you use large bold type and be sure to put a message there about a delay in shipping.

You may want to change your time of shipping too do you know how to do that?

On your front page pull down on the "Account".

Then choose "Site Preferences".

You should find shipping rules there. Click on "edit". This will allow you to change it.

Need any more help please write it down here.

Selling Issues And Tips

Thanks DWB ... I opted to delay my listings to end on Monday so I am safe there.  I chose to email the one person who owes me payment that I would be out of town and that if I didn't receive payment today her package wouldn't go out til Monday.  Figure that covers my behind ... if you know what I mean.

Just looked at your items. What beautiful pictures and listings. You really do a nice job of presenting items to bidders.

Glad you found the vacation thing. There's a box you can fill in that will present a message on all of your listings. It is a personal message from YOU on the items. It also allows you to make that message in larger type or bold or what ever you like.

There is a date choice, and also a pre-written message you can use if they message you it responds automatically.

Enjoy your trip,

DWB

Selling Issues And Tips

My 1st sale was easy but naturally, I'm over thinking again :-).

When I go to print my mailing label it has me put in the size of envelope, etc.. and auto calculates the postage I pay. Can I choose to pay postage on my own (because it seems Ebay calculates and charges me more than the post office would.?) Do they? And can I print the label w/o having to pay their shipping costs?

Any suggestions for a newbie, like me, to go about this? I am not charging the customer shipping. I will be paying that. It seems that understanding the shipping and all is the most confusing..

            Thanks to all, Janet

USPS First Class is how I'm shipping. I can't get my postal scale to work right so I hope the 12oz. postage I just printed is enough....
