Another thing I wanted to ask you all is your opinion as far as buying shipping on Ebay or elsewhere. The 1st two and only items I've sold, I bought it on Ebay but I found it to actually cost less at the post office. So does Ebay charge a fee for this?
Wow.. am I ever behind the times?:|
Thanks, Janet

Janet.. YES.. if there is a local community college or over 50 senior center or something in your community that offers basic computer skills class, TAKE IT.. you will learn and save yourself much future frustration.. also, if you are going to sell on the internet, learning your vehicle is a darn good idea.. would t hat be be like driving on the freeway and not knowing how to drive? no.. probably not.. LOL 🙂

Right now I only have 16 items listed and over half have watchers attached to them ... here's my query ... does anyone have any good tips on how to turn watchers into bidders???? I get so frustrated when I see four or five watchers and then the item doesn't even get a bid. Exasperating.

I looked at your auction like I would as a customer and you have a great business going and the listings looked great to me. The only thing I can suggest is to give these watchers a incentive such as, buy 1 item and save on shipping with the 2nd item. Of course you'd want to charge the higher of the 2. That's something that always caught my eye.
Maybe you can't take a hit like that on shipping but I just wanted to suggest it if you can. It may help for right now if it's just a slow period. Call it a spring sale. I wish you the best of luck and hope you lot's of buyers!!!!

There are times when there are people watching and they don't show up in the number of watchers. When someone bids, they are supposed to automatically go on the watcher list but it doesn't always happen.
Over the years I've found that if people want to buy, they will buy. I've tried lowering the price, offering free shipping, doing buy it now, and nothing really helps.
Just have to be patient...which can be very hard.

I think you're right soloinar ... it takes patience. I had a few things sell ... enough to cover what we had spent and then a little ... so despite all the watchers and no bids ... we made out okay.
I'm holding off on listing today as I want to take advantage of the 50 free listings.

Hi fellow members:-) How do I know what my page looks like to others? And do I need a HTML code for Paypal pymts..? I'm just not grasping this sales stuff. Maybe it's the meds. I take or just the depression but I seem to be having a hard time understanding it. Thanks much, Janet

Janet, I think you're making things harder than they have to be. There's no code involved. All you have to do is fill in the blanks.

Janet ... when you get a couple items listed ... I'll take a look at your listings if you'd like. Try not to overthink it ... just take one step at a time. You can do this.

Your in the right place to be asking questions Janet. There are a lot of experienced E-Bayers in this group.

Hi Janet. I don't know if this will help but it's thelink to the how to by ebay. There are a few videos and if you go to the bottom, there's an 8 minute how to list on ebay.

Thanks again for all your wonderful replies and uplifting words. I do tend to make things more difficult than they are and that gets me in trouble.
I do have the book, 'Ebay Bible" and have been reading that. It could be I'm reading too deep into it for my novice start. I did get a mannequin for the clothing. Now I need to get measuring and listing..
We had a neighbor lady pass away last week so have been helping their family get things done they just don't have the energy for at this time. So, soon I'll be listing again.
A BIG thanks to you all!!!

Hope your neighbor passing is not putting too much stress on you.
The maniquin sounds interesting. We had one of those near our window one time to make passer by folks look. We had it made up like real. Real funny to see the looks outside.
I tend to be a silly fella a lot. Must be a 2nd childhood. :^O
Enjoy your day,

I love your sense of humor... I've thought of putting mine in a window and put the spook into people who drive by. Not to be mean but to break the everyday hum drum!!
My neighbors issues are stressing me abit and I'm not focusing on my selling like I should be. I just can't let her do all this herself after just 6 months out of open heart surgery. She's so sweet and I know she'd be here for me as she's that kind of person.
Although she would definately understand if I told her I needed some time to work on my selling. I have a problem with putting needs of (certain) others before mine and then I stress. But there is absolutely noone else to help her.
I appreciate your comment and concern...
Keep up the fun and stay young. More power to you.....
Always, Janet
