I started selling on Facebook. There are a number of local groups that have set up selling sites. The problem is, people say they want to buy something then don't. Or else they want a different price than what was agreed on. Sometimes the sale goes through ok and sometimes not.

I have a friend out in southern CA who sells on Amazon. She does well there but they require sellers to accept returns. I keep saying I'm going to look into other places to sell but I just haven't had the motivation.

My wife has sold some of her hand made items on etsy. Its not as busy as ebay but it does work for her. etsy is known for people selling hand made items. 

Lots of ebayers have their own websites also. They just use their ebay handle and add the .com to it.

I'm so niave to URL's, websites, etc.... So what would I use as a handle? Or can I without having a store?

Am doing ok but quite saddened by the horrible shootings. I keep thinking of those parents who have gifts laying under the tree for their child who will not be there to open them. I'm just sick for all of them.

My health is ahhh. so..so. Lot's of pain with the damp cold weather and having side effects from a new drug I'm now going off of today!!!!

I have been unable to watch the tv coverage about the situation in Connecticutt. It makes me cry. It don't take long either. 1 minute after watching it I begin to cry.

Like you so many things run thru my mind about these little ones and their families. We have not turned on our lights since this happened. Same thing up and down the street.

Sorry to be such a downer about this. But it is heart breaking.

As for selling on Etsy you can list items on there for .20 cents and they go for 3 or 4 months. My wife loves it. She used to sell on ebay.  She had a very successful store going.

She got very upset one time about the increases in fees and shut it down.

She does very well at the other place. 

Take a look at it you may like it.

Been trying to reduce the sadness over the Connecticutt thing. We are listening to nice music instead.  The highlight of my day is when my wife takes me outside and lets me sing with the birds. They are coming by in flocks right how.

I think it's affecting everyone! I've been in and out since early this morning and I haven't met or talked to a single person who is in a good mood.

What makes it worse for me is two things...first, I spent time up there filming a training video with their fire department. It was back in the mid 1990's but I still remember the town and the people.

The second thing that makes it so hard is going to Facebook. People (including myself but I deleted my posts) are lashing out at people who want gun control and who don't want gun control and are blaming the President or the Conservatives. I truly believe that this rift between people in our country has grown so great that it is contributing to horrors such as Newtown. Is it any wonder that our young people are so desparate when they see the leaders of the country and the adults around them constantly arguing, calling each other names, blaming each other for everything that is wrong, and not doing anything constructive to fix anything?

The news media just makes it all worse. I've only watched 2 things...President Obama's speech at the memorial service last night and 2 Sunday morning news shows. I don't understand how things have gotten so polarized and I don't know if there is any way to fix it. I know I'm too old and I pray that our young people don't give up!

You sure explained this well. Sure hope the arguing stops it is getting that way. 

Like you I am too old and physically unable to do much about anything.  One of our friends has a son who is very scary. She has gone to the police begging them for help. They can not do anything about it because he is not doing anything against the law.

We also just heard about another one of our friends sons acting similar. They are afraid of him but can not find out what to do about it.

It seems that when parents see a child they feel is a danger to society there may need to be a law that can be in place.  

I remember going thru Newtown while working a few times. It is a beautiful little place. We never know what is going on inside some homes. Gee you worked up there too maybe we crossed paths LOL. 

I grew up in a terrible area. It was wall to wall crime. My thoughts were to be the opposite of them people. Be kind and respectful of others. Its so nice living this way. Every day I am kind and respectful to everyone. You know me by now its my way. Be gentle and kind to others.

Hopefully some good will come out of all this. Maybe this will be a turning point that will become a positive.

I keep praying for all those parents and the rest. They are going thru the worst possible pain.

Hi Janet. I use the same ID wherever I sell. It's like a "brand name" for people to get familiar with.

A friend of mine here is having success selling on something called the ONLINE YARD SALE. I think you get to it through Facebook but I'm not sure. She makes jewelry and has sold quite a few pieces the past couple of weeks.

I have made myself a promise...after the holidays I am going to get serious about exploring other places to sell. What's funny is just when I'm ready to give up on eBay, I sell something. I haven't been able to find anything out about the free listing situation.

My ID name is "islifereal" and I don't like that anymore. I used it only for my friend who had it and passed away a few years ago. In todays world, it just doesn't feel appropriate. I'd like to change it on Ebay but my acct. is 100% so don't want to start over.

I may check out Facebook. I know people can make a page but I'm not getting into it. Seems the shooting has me real down too. I cry everytime I see the pictures of the kids...

Today, in Iowa we are having severe wind blowing our 12" plus snow dump and everyone is losing electricity. The city I'm in is almost all shut down. Our 1st snow and it's a bad one. So far we still have electric but it seems to be trickling down like we'll be next. Burr..

Kinda down in the dumps so will get back on here tomorrow and bless everyone for your suggestions and thoughts given to the kids and families in Connecticut......

You can change your ID without losing your feedback. Best to call ebay and have them help you go thru it.

Still can't watch the Connecticutt situation without crying. It breaks my heart probably always will. 

Grew up with a person who committed mass murder . He sat right next to me in school. One day he went nuts like this. Did it with a knife in those days. He would go do this now and then. They did not know who it was. One day they figured it out and arrested him.

He was the smartest kid in the class. Very quiet and would not talk with any of us. Was never outside or with other kids. He was in the house with his mother. Seems too familiar.

Its probably good for us to release our feelings about this. Made me feel better to just type this.

Just wanted to let you know that I figured it out and it looks like eBay is still giving the 50 free listings. But they have to be auction. Not buy it now.

Janet, if you want, I can help you with your online stuff. I used to teach this and if you are able to be on the phone, I can walk you through it over the phone. I know it can be intimidating. Just let me know.

I can't stop thinking about the kid's either. Everytime they show their pictures, I start crying. I can't imagine the parents!! It's just a tragic beyond tragics.... So very sad. They were basically still just babies..

Now, on to myself..ah!!  I'm changing medications for my depression and pain so am going thru withdrawls. I'm hoping that's what's causing my brain freeze because it's scarey and frustrating. The depression is getting really bad and the pain is making it so I can't sit or stand long so I can't get anything done.

I have so much inventory I bought wholesale (ha ha).. and we're low low income so I need to get in gear. I just ask anyone right now to help me because I'm so overwhelmed. Clothing takes so much prep. But thank you so very much for offering to help me.

Does anyone know if I can use my username to share on facebook to get Ebay customers inspite of not having a store? I will talk with Ebay about my user name change first. It just makes me sick everytime I look at the stacks and stacks of clothing in bags I have to sell among so much more.

My experience with the medications they were giving me was most of them had worse side effects than any help they offered. 

We also began to think they viewed me as a "cash cow" to make money on. In the doctor waiting room there would be people all over the place all with side effects, half asleep, looking like druggies etc.

Little by little I stopped all of them. I actually feel better. Only taking Tylenol, Meloxicam (for arthritis) and Gabapentin.

You may feel better very slowly reducing the meds also Janet. Be careful how you do it cause when reducing taking them ya can have other reactions. I write everything down every day for a look back.

You can change your seller i.d. without losing feedback. I was just talking with them about this cause someone created a name almost exactly the same as mine. Ebay went and stopped them once I pointed it out. But before that she told me we could change without losing feedback.

Not sure about facebook we don't do none of those social network things.

Time to go wake up the birds,
