Footed Serving Plate / Cake Plate - Need Pattern and Maker Help

This Pineapple theme Pedastal Cake Plate has a bowl depression in the center.  Is this a cake plate or some other type server?  Anyone know the maker and pattern name?  And what is the center bowl used for? Thanks!

No, really not.  Maybe for a fruit sauce or whipped cream (petits fours or cake slices), or a condiment if the piece is used for tea sandwiches???

Yep, has to be like a sandwich or tidbit server with the center well for condiments.  A cake would colapse into it. Thanks!
