Update to Group sub-categories

alan@ebay
eBay Staff (Alumni)

Hello,

We've tidied up the Group structure in some of the Group categories; now all Group categories have a consistent browsing experience.

We noticed that there were a lot of Groups that were not under a related sub-category and were sticking out on their own in the Groups flow, this made navigation difficult. Any of the Groups that were not listed under a sub-category have been moved into what we felt were the appropriate sub-categories.

In the near future, we will be fully reviewing all Groups, and we will archive Groups that have had no activity for a significant period of time.

If you have any questions, let us know!

Thank you for being part of The eBay Community!

Update to Group sub-categories

Hi Alan,

There are some fairly dead groups that used to be thriving discussion boards. Is there any chance some of them can be brought back to board status, under discussions --> categories?

If so we can get input from the community on a few that would benefit the most from "resurrection". I know the stamps & coins board/group is often referenced by some posters, as well as the P&G (pottery & glass) board/group plus a couple of others.

I would suggest that the Music/Musician group would be a good candidate for restoration as a board.

When this was a board, it got dozens of posts every day.

As a group, it gets less than 12 posts per year.

It is not that users were no longer interested; but that ebay changes resulted in the demise of that board.   It was viable, lively, active, and fun as a board, and the public could easily find it.  That all vanished when ebay decided to make it a group.

It may be too late of course. I can't predict whether former posters would return or not, at this point in time; it may simply be that ebay changes have driven them away.
