Need help with maker of Italian pottery pitcher

Hi, would anyone happen to know the maker of this colorful Italian pitcher. It appears to be of terra cotta. It measures approx 8" in height. Does the "z" mean anything. Thanks in advance.

Resolved! Old twisted wire clamp with wire finger hole. What is its use?

Looks very old with a nice dark patina and not rusted. Measures 6" long. Reminds me of some old corkscrews but with a very different end than a corkscrew.
