Any hints on what was the purpose or use of this paper covered box Photographic ?

approx 7" x 3 3/4" x 3 1/4Any Info on this box would be helpful.   The covered exterior reminds me of an old box camera...could it be an accessory?        It's in very good condition... shows age, but bery little wear.

I think it could be a mid-century trinket box to hold jewelry and such.  It might have had compartments at one time .

You could be right. Don't see any ghost marks for compartments, but the top does have velvet lining. Inside is in remarkedly good condition, no paper tears or marks on any kind.
