At a local coin shop the owner wanted me to look at 2 odd Roosevelt dimes, (sorry no photos).
Each had what appeared to be a raised "bump" on the obverse. At first it looked like it was struck with a pointed center punch on the reverse side. Each "bump" was almost in almost exact same position. There is a crack running at about a 45 degree angle through it. On the reverse there is an identical "bump" with a crack running through it also. Both the "bumps" are in virtually the exact same position on both coins.
What is also very interesting about these two coins, one is dated 1951 and the other 1954.
My only guess was a planchet flaw, but in almost the exact same position on two coins three years apart, that seams unlikely.
Any idea what is going on with these coin?
