Europa C&O Nr 364: Sachsen-Eisenach One Heller 1735 Copper.

is very pleased to report acquisition of yet another Sachsen entity.  Yes, this is C&O nr 364: Sachsen-Eisenach, a Duchy with a somewhat interesting history.

 

The Coin: Sachsen-Eisenach 1 Heller full date 1735 - Copper - 18mm dia.

 

Obverse:  Crowned fancy monogram of Duke Wilhelm Heinrich.

 

Reverse:           + 1 +

Some History:

1596 - Duchy of Sachsen-Eisenach partitioned from Sachsen-Gotha-Eisenach.

1638 - Ruler line extinct.  Sachsen-Eisenach divided to Sachsen-Altenburg and

             Sachsen-Weimar.

1640 - Once again Sachsen-Eisenach when partitioned from Sachsen-Weimar.

1644 - Ruler line extinct.  Returned to Sachsen-Weimar.

1662 - Partitioned from Sachsen-Weimar.

1671 - Ruler line extinct. Returned to Sachsen-Weimar.

1671 - Partitioned from Sachsen-Weimar.

1741 - Ruler line extinct. Returned to Sachsen-Weimar.

 

Note:  1735 - Ruler was Wilhelm Heinrich [1729-1741], Ernestine Branch.

 

Note: Eisenach founded by Landgraves of Thuringia C.1150.
