Europa C&O #371 - Zellerfeld - Muenzenmeisterpfennige - Copper - 1722.

20 Junio 2018:  Greetings to all coin & token collectors where-ever you might be.

Heron is pleased to report acquisition of item #371 added to the small accumulation of Central & Oest issues of Europa.   This is Heron's first Muenzenmeisterpfennige and most likely that last one.   Added as an 'example' of nice engraving for Copper issue.

Side 1: Stag in oval.  Surrounded by very fancy cartouche.

              Legend: I.A.BRAUNS.K.GR.BR.A.G.U.F. BR.LUN.MUNTZ.COMISSAR.ZZ.

Side 2: 3 flowers in vase.  Surrounded by very fancy cartouche.

              Legend: I.G.TOPFFER.K.G.BR.A.G.U.F. BR.LUN.MUNTZ.COMISSAR.ZZ.

Note: Heron believes the BR.LUN. to stand for Braunschweig-Luneburg.

Note: Zellerfeld was small iron ore mining town in Harz area.

Note: Here mining began in 16th Century.

Note: Zellerfeld was merged into Clausthal in 1924. Now Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

Note: Modern 'wire rope' invented by Engineer Wilhelm Albert of Zellerfeld in

mid 1830s.  For use in mines in the Harz Mountain area.

** An addition of interesting Copper issue.  However, Heron does not have a

lifetime to use on research of Muenzenmeisterpfennige so one item is enough.

A good example for the accumulation!  **
