Europa C&O #371: Zellerfeld Muenzenmeisterpfennige 1722 Copper.

20 de Junio 2018:  Greetings to all coin collectors, where-ever you might be!  Heron has added Europa Central & Oest item #371 to the small accumulation.  This is Heron's first Muenzenmeisterpfennige and most likely the last.   Heron added this item because it is 'dated' and made of Copper and is somewhat interesting.  An example for the accumulation.  Probably only one is necessary.  Heron does not have enough time remaining to make a full study of Muenzenmeisterpfennigen.  Heron continues his studies of 'regular coinage'.

The Item: Zellerfeld - Muenzenmeisterpfennige - 1722 - Copper - 27mm dia.

Side 1: Stag in oval surrounded by extra fancy cartouche.

              Legend: I.A.BRAUNS.K.G.BR.A.C. U.F. BR.LUN.MUNTZ.COMISSAR.ZZ.

Side 2: at center 3 flowers in vase. Surrounded by fancy cartouche.

              Legend: I.G.TOPFFER.K.G.BR.A.C.U.F. BR.LUN.MUNTZ.COMISSAR.ZZ.

Note:  Heron believes that the 'BR.LUN' is for Braunschweig Luneburg.

Note:  Zellerfeld was small iron ore minging town in Harz area of Niedersachsen.

Note:  Mining began in the 16th Century.

Note:  Zellerfeld merged into Clausthal 1924.  Now Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

Note:  Modern 'wire rope' invented by Engineer Wilhelm Albert in Zellerfeld in

the 1830's.  For use in mines in the Harz Mountains.
