11 de Junio 2018: Greetings to all coin collectors, where-ever you might be! Heron continues reporting acquisitions of Central & Oest Europa. This #370 is a non dated item, however, it appears that most of the no date coin essperts peg this at C.1570. Heron will accept the 'findings' of the essperts on this matter.
The Coin: Reval - no date - C.1570 - One Schilling- Silver - 18mm.
Obverse: Crowned Monogram I R. [for Johann Rex of Sweden].
Legend: IOHAN.III.D.G.R.
Reverse: Three 'stacked' lions.
Legend: MO NOVA REVA [new money of Reval].
A short history:
C.1050 - A fort constructed here. Became Reval County.
1219 - Area owned by Kingdom of Denmark.
1285 - Became member of Hanseatic League.
1346 - Danes sold the area of Reval to the Teutonic Knights.
1561 - Now owned by Sweden.
1710 - Sweden loses area to the Ruthenians in the Great Northern War.

**Another small neat coin from a somewhat obscure place occupied by the Swedes and part of the Swedish Empire. However, what is more important to el Heron is the fact that this is #370 on the 'list'. Heron is moving along, slowly but shirly. Is it possible that 400 can be reached? We can now say 'possible'. It is a matter of time. Anyway, this has been a really fun 'quest' and will continue until the plump lady ist zingin. **
