Coin identification

 I found this and I automatically thought it was a clad error but I started looking at the ones for sale they look alot different I thought maybe magnesium they made some test coins in 99 and some got into circulation but I can't find anything about the 05 any suggestions will be appreciated

it's a normal circulated coin with (probably) environmental toning...

 

they wouldn't produce a 2005 dated test coin in 1999, especially one with a Denver mint mark...  the dies for that coin probably weren't even started until 2003 or 2004...

 

if it were magnesium it would weigh a fraction of what a real coin weighs...probably about 1/6th...

i had a small group of interestingly colored coins like that once... i don't remember what i started them at, but i'm sure not much over face... they generated zero interest... LOL
