item missing from multi item purchase

I purchased 7 items from a seller.  Only six of them came even though they were all supposed to be in the same package.  The seller keeps telling me to open a missing item case.  It will not let me do that because it keeps saying the items were delivered.   The only phone number I can find is for fraud and I can't get past its automated menu to get a live person.  There directions for finding a phone number and/or the chat function are absolutely incorrect.  Does anyone have a phone number or directions for actually finding the chat function.  I told the buyer I would just order something else and use the "request a total function" and she could deduct the amount of the other item.  She says she can't do that.

@dayk22 There is no phone number in use currently by eBay but you really don't need to speak to anyone there. The chat option can work if you use it during regular business hours, but again just follow the procedures in the policies here. Did you purchase seven separate listings or one listing which offered seven items?

1- If you purchased seven separate listings then you can open an item not received case for the item missing because each transaction would be separate. Seller will have to either send you another or refund you.

2- If you purchased one listing which included seven different items, then you should NOT open an item not received case because they were all purchased using the same transaction number. Seller will show it was delivered and you will lose your case immediately. May be why seller is pushing you to open this.

If the second scenario is what occurred, then your only option is to open an item not as described case. Be careful as you only have one opportunity to open a case so select wisely. Seller will then either have to ship you the missing item or provide a return shipping label for you to return the other items. Most likely seller will then ship you the missing item, or they can give you a partial refund to make up the difference for the missing item.

Keep in mind this platform offers the buyer a MBG, but you need to follow the policy correctly in order to get your money back. A promise of a future credit from the seller isn't worth much I'm afraid and will only be between the two of you, eBay will not get involved in that regardless of what the seller wrote. Best of luck to you....

Re: item missing from multi item purchase

It was seven separate listings, but I put them all in my cart and bought all at once, so there is only one transaction number.  I tried to find the chat option but it is not at the bottom of all help pages like they say.   Thanks for the advice.  I'm going to push the seller a little more and also hope that I can find chat.

Re: item missing from multi item purchase

@dayk22 Well that's your decision but if you read the MBG on this platform, as long as you follow the policies you will be guaranteed by eBay to receive either the item(s) you paid for or a full refund. However you need to follow the policies correctly. Use the chat if you insist but as long as you follow the policies you will get one of those back. It's up to you now and in your hands. Best of luck to you....

@dayk22

If that is the case, the correct procedure would be to file an "item not as described" claim....item missing from shipment.   In this scenario, your will likely have to "return" the rest of the merchandise once the seller issues you a return label for the claim.

eBay, even after all these years, cannot "split" the items that have been combined for one payment/shipment.

I applaud your decision and wish you well. And I admire your tidy house... wish I had one. Good luck.
