active return request action questions

Hello,

I have a return request that I opened as it was the only way to get a response from the seller (overseas china seller).  Supposedly at the end of the day today ebay will step in if there is no response from them.

what happens at that point?

I bought an intake manifold with fuel rail set from this person and received only the intake manifold.  its useless without the fuel rail setup so I opened the return request stating missing parts.  Instead of responding through the return request, the seller contacted me manually through ebay messaging.  I have a tracking number supposedly for the fuel rail setup but will not know what it actually is until after today.

If I cancel the return request, does that completely end it or can I open it up again once I get whatever it is they are sending (in case it is incorrect?).  what happens when ebay steps in? If they are being good on their word I dont want to screw them over or make this really complicated is all.

should I request that they respond directly to the return request itself so that it stays open??

Re: active return request action questions

You do not ever cancel a return request unless/until you're satisfied with the outcome.

You opened an NAD case.  No response within three days.  On the fourth day, you ask eBay to step in.

Please read the MBG.  Hope this never happens to you again, but if it does, the MBG equips you to handle it the right way.

And as usual @stackz you were misled. If we have read the MBG ourselves -- the MBG does not say "fourth day" nor that we must ask eBay to step in then.

1. Your return request stays open for 21 business days, so if your rail arrives during that time and works out

-- then all is well and you can close the return request.

2. Or if eBay automatically steps in and issues a prepaid return label, you have a more-than-a-week deadline

-- then if the rail (or junk) doesn't work out, use the return label to get your refund.

Re: active return request action questions

'opened the return request'...wonder if long you waited for a response before doing this.

'seller contacted me manually through eBay messaging'...which is the way a buyer should go...

Seller and buyer should work it out first before opening a claim.

Nothing to do now except wait...you opened a claim...can't close it until you received everything you ordered.

Seller will probably do the refund and maybe block you from future purchases.

I suggest blocking the selling from buying from you and doing the same thing as to the outcome of this situation.

And as usual @qeqo_0 you apparently haven't actually read the MBG policy page or read the dozens of posts here where cases have been closed because the buyer didn't ask eBay to step in during the specified 21-day period.

In the section specifying that after the three business days the seller has to accept the request, "either party can ask us to step in and help". It further states, "eBay may [emphasis mine] step in without the buyer asking if the seller didn't respond to the return request." May, not absolutely will. And having actually seen all the posts where cases have been closed for want of asking eBay to step in, I personally would be asking eBay to step in.
