I bid and paid for an item on April 20, 2025, it's ETA via USPS Ground Advantage was to be on the 28th., it is now Tuesday, May 7 and I still have not received it.
Payment for the transaction was posted on April 23, 2025.
As of May 6, USPS tracking states the the item is at their Honolulu Distribution Center with no delivery date.
I informed the seller on May 1, 2025 of the shipments situation and duly waited the 3 business days until I asked eBay to formally look into the situation, that took place today, May 7, 2025.
Ebay responded and said that the case is on hold until May 17, 2025, a full ten days from now, they gave a reason as so that they may gather more information.
Reaching out to eBay has been fruitless, I either get a recorded message that they cannot fulfill my request at this time or another recording which states that I've reached them outside of their normal business hours.
This absurd when I called them at 0700 hours HST today, assuming that they are on EST that would place the time at 1300 hours there, utterly ridiculous.
At this point I am entertaining refusing delivery of the package and initiate a chargeback with my credit card company, to wait another 10 days for them to decide what to do is asinine and only adds to my frustration.
Thoughts/comments?

Have you checked tracking on the USPS site?
eBay's tracking has been VERY SLOW to update to what USPS site says.
Do NOT refuse the package, you lose your MBG.

Refusing the delivery will put you at odds with your eBay case and perhaps your credit card issuer.
EBay considers "refusal" a delivery attempt and that is in favor of the seller in a "item not received case".
EBay already stated the status of the case is on hold until the 17th.
So yes, reaching out to eBay is fruitless. Check back on your case on the 18th and see if you can ask eBay to step in if the item has not been delivered.
Addendum: I would allow the eBay case to play out before contacting your credit card issuer.

Are you past the Estimated Delivery Date on your order? If so, are you saying you opened an Item Not Received claim? And if all of that is so, did you return to the case and ask eBay to step in after 3 days? And if all of THAT is so... is that when eBay found to tack on 10 days? Forgive me, I'm a bit confused...

It's not unusual for eBay to extend an item not received case if tracking shows the package in the USPS system. They have to balance being fair to the buyer with being fair to the seller, who has no control over what USPS may be doing with the package. If they issue a refund and the package is then delivered they have no way to force a buyer to repay the seller or return the merchandise. And while in no way insinuating you would do that, there is a disturbingly large percentage of buyers who just view that situation as free stuff.
And a credit card chargeback would be a particularly tacky thing to do to the seller, as it would tack on an extra $20 to whatever they're already losing on the transaction. Your seller isn't at fault here. Please don't penalize them taking out your frustrations with eBay.

Latest ETA was April 28
Notified seller on May 1 that it missed the ETA
Asked eBay to step in today (May 7) their response is that my case is on hold till the 17th, a full 10 days from now.
The item is an auto part which I needed on May 30, I procured it locally and have no use for the eBay item any longer
As of yet it has not been delivered to me

'asked eBay to step in'...'a full 10 days from now'...for a refund.
eBay mentioned 10 days...but I wouldn't put that in writing.
What if the refund happened like tomorrow...you never know.
Rather than refusing the package which I would not do...don't answer the door if it arrives.
Shipper has to do 2 tries...plus it has to remain as USPS for a period of time...use this time wisely.
Maybe ask USPS when or how long before it might be returned.

Who said I was blaming the seller?
Exactly where did I blame them in my posts?
The real issue here is with the woeful USPS in giving totally unrealistic delivery dates, almost 90% of mail from the continental states shipped via "Ground Advantage" to Hawaii is loaded onto a container ship, sailing time to Honolulu is 6-9 days, dependent of course on how tightly they wind the vessel's rubber bands...
A sure indicator is when USPS tracking states that the item has been processed through their San Francisco Distribution Center, you'll know for a fact that it'll find itself bobbing along on the Pacific Ocean, if and when that ship sets sail, this is not my first time to this rodeo.
Before you start blaming me for selecting this method of shipping, realize that I did not choose it, it was automatically factored in the bid process, there was no other method offered.

Nowhere did I blame you for selecting the shipping method. All I did was point out that your knee-jerk "getting back at eBay by going to my credit card" would cause more monetary damage to the seller. You asked for thoughts and comments. I provided you with mine.

I also bought an ebay item April 20th Easter Sunday, and I have not received it either. The seller didn't even print a label until I reported her for non delivery April 29th. In my case I just got unlucky buying from a bad seller.

If the estimated date of delivery as seen in the original listing has passed by at least one day, but less than 30, why not just open an item not received case?

The original listing included an estimated delivery date. Once your package is late by at least one day, but less than 30, why not just open an item not received case?

You freekin' haole! You do not even know what you do not know! Ground packages haven't been shipped from the mainland to Hawaii via "slow boat" since the late `60s. All small packages are put in air cargo containers which then get shipped on commercial airline flights on a space/weight available basis. When space is not available for more than 48 hours, USPS will reach out to FedEx or UPS to see if they have space on one of their flights to the islands.
"As of May 6, USPS tracking states the the item is at their Honolulu Distribution Center with no delivery date".
If there is no tracking updates by the 9th or 10th, Look up the USPS customer service number, online. Have your tracking number available when you call, and give it to the operator so they can check the tracking. Then ask if they will request that a facility search of the Honolulu Distribution Center be done to shake the package loose. Sometimes buyers have to do those things because sellers do not know how to.
Since you no longer have a use for the part, rather than refuse it, file an item not as described dispute, for not matching the description. The seller will have 3 days to issue you a return shipping label or a refund if they do not want to pay the return cost. If they do not respond in that time, on day four open the dispute which you will see in your purchase history, and use the Ask ebay to step in button. eBay will issue a refund from the seller's account.
USPS seems to be all messed up I just received a refund for a package that was in their system for over a month and it was a domestic delivery, I too was given a 10 day extension when the package was already weeks past due.
FYI, you start being rude to locals like you were to one of our members, you gonna get dirty lickin's

If tracking shows a recent update, they will put a case on hold a few days to see if it gets delivered.
If it doesn't, you'll get a refund.
If you receive it, file for a return.
