Received package with no invoice or return address

I know that there are sellers here on eBay that dropship from Amazon.  Today I received a package from Amazon that did not have a return address. The packaging was marked as Amazon Prime and I haven't ordered anything from them and there wasn't any invoice in  the package either.  This package contained a Samsung Galaxy S10 cellphone case, but I don't even have that phone model.  I've checked my recent eBay orders and none of them were due for arrival today.  Since I didn't see it delivered I don't know what carrier dropped it off either.  The tracking number doesn't match any of my purchases.  Can anyone tell me how to determine where this package came from as it isn't mine and someone sent it to me by mistake.  There is a QR code on the package but scanning it didn't help.

The only tracking number on the package was TBA724682936000

A TBA number means that the package was delivered by Amazon Logistics. They hire local contractors to deliver items from their local fulfillment center.

Buyers can't access tracking info for a delivery like this unless it is in your Orders on Amazon, which won't be the case for this one because you're not the buyer on record.

I don't know any way to access information on this package, since you are neither the seller nor the buyer on record. Maybe try contacting Amazon, but I wouldn't be too hopeful.

The low-cost trinket was intended to provide a publicly-viewable tracking number showing Delivered to your zip code, but unfortunately, Amazon chose to use a private TBA number instead for that particular shipment, so it's now a dead gambit.

Maybe they decided to send you the phone case instead.

It seems what you are suggesting is that someone I purchased from sent me this low value trinket instead of the item I actually purchased?   So when you file a claim for an item not received the claim gets closed because they supposedly have a tracking number showing delivery.  If is the case what stops me from filing a case for not as described  or do I only get one bite from the apple if I open a claim for item not received first?  So now I wait to see what happens with my pending purchases.  If something doesn't arrive I'll know who did it.

Yes, but the gambit failed, as the TBA number cannot prove delivery for:

1. an item you actually purchased

2. a return for which you must issue a refund

3. a purchase or a return to someone else in your zip code

Yes, that's fine.

- If you open a claim for item not received, you will win. No tracking. Done.

- Instead, if you file a case for not as described despite no tracking anyway, you will get a return label, or a refund with no return needed.

I think all Amazon boxes are marked Amazon Prime so that does not mean anything.

As others have said Amazon uses a number of sub contractor/private delivery services and their own drivers if you're close enough to a fulfillment center.  Usually the sub contractors are the same ones for specific areas.

TBA at the start of tracking means To Be Announced and often those numbers cannot be uploaded to ebay, because by the time a TBA tracking number is available to be viewed on ebay,  the item has been delivered. Those numbers are mostly used with Amazon's Fulfilled By Amazon (FBA) system which is their product sourcing/drop shipping service. Unfortunately a TBA number cannot be tracked on Amazon. I have received a couple of items via FBA and there was a small receipt in the boxes.

You do only get one bite from the apple, so your best bet is to wait out you current orders and see if one item you ordered does not arrive. Maybe save a screen shot of your purchase history, or print one out if possible, and start checking off items recently purchased as they come in.  If a seller is using Amazon's FBA to send an "inexpensive trinket", instead of a more expensive item you ordered. That item will not be delivered, so you should file a SNAD dispute. You know how that works. The seller if domestic will have to provide a return shipping label, or reimburse the international shipping cost.  You send back the case, and when tracking shows delivery you get a full refund. DO not file an INR dispute because if the seller does have the TBA tracking info, they can prove delivery to your zip code.

You should be careful, it is a scam, Your personal information has been exposed, some shipers transport goods to take advantage of that to ship goods, if you receive that you have been deceived

I have a very similar issue. I received a package of cheap pens drop shipped from Walmart that I did not order, which came with a Fedex tracking number. I was supposed to receive a $100 item.

My order is still marked as "not shipped" however, and I doubt he will ever send it. Should I file an INR or a SNAD? I just want my money back!

If there's no response, and your $100 item is still marked as "not shipped" @macmaster05 then it's likely that the Walmart package is the stand-in for your actual item. If so, when you file an INR, your seller will simply upload the FedEx tracking number to prove delivery, and you won't get a refund.

Instead, you should file a SNAD to get a return label, and then your refund. If the SNAD is a mistake, and your $100 item does arrive (it won't), you can repay your seller.

If he uploads the tracking number you call ebay and change the case to item not as described.  If for some strange reason this fails....which it shouldn't....File with PayPal or credit card.
