Postage Due

Why does Ebay allow Seller to get away with sending items that have postage due? I purchased a card, Seller printed .53cent lable, attached it to yellow bubble envelope and shipped it to me, Mailman delivered with $4.07 postage due? Ebay says nothing they can do, that's crazy. I paid $2.00 for this original, so ended up paying $6.07. They said file a return, so seller sent label, still won't get me my postage due back. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

You did not have to pay for postage due. You ask the PO to hold the package until you get get in touch with the seller. If the seller doesn't send you the postage due then you refuse the package.  .53 stamp is for an envelope less than 1/4 in thickness.

Don't know why they said file a return. That is not going to get your money back.

You could have let the seller know there was postage due and they could have sent you the funds to cover the postage.

Or, you could have refused the package and filed an INR for a refund.

The seller would have to pay the postage due to get the package back.

If you paid the due postage, there's no way to get it refunded if the seller won't refund it.

Have a great day.

You can report seller to eBay

You have already left seller negative feedback

I don't believe that eBay allows it.  In fact, I believe that it is one of the few legitimate reasons a buyer can use to refuse delivery and not lose protection in a INR dispute.

"If you paid the due postage, there's no way to get it refunded if the seller won't refund it."

Unfortunately for the OP, this is correct.   An honest seller with good ethics and integrity would apologize profusely and refund the $4.07 from his/her own proceeds of that sale.   Immediately.

My selling ID has done that.  I have also refunded postage in cases where the USPS has delayed delivery.  Back in that holiday season of 2020, after Covid had virtually decimated the USPS, I even refunded the entire price paid by the buyer on one item, and told him he could keep the item if it ever did show up.   Something like eight weeks from Southern California to Maryland, it finally did show up.

Since you are seller and a buyer I would think you would know the full aspect of the money back guarantee.

A yellow bubble envelope cannot be mailed for .53 or .58  by anyone. A bubble envelope is considered a parcel package even though it weighs nothing. If it has the word "bubble"anywhere on the outside on envelope then

it cannot even be mailed with a .58 stamp no matter the thickness. I used such an envelope last week under 1/4 thickness and got stuck paying for a parcel package just because the clerk knew it was a bubble envelope.

You take a chance of it going through the mail delivery service or not. I actually mail my parcels in person and communicate with the post office clerks so I don't mess up.

Although I'm not a fan of arbitrary negging of sellers, IMO, your seller earned that feedback, cheated to send it to you and didn't do the right thing after being caught. Shame on that seller.

And it's not the first rodeo in which the seller shipped a padded envelope with 53 cents postage and cost the buyer additional money!

Is the seller trying to use the "standard envelope shipping" but failing to understand that they are using the wrong envelope?  Seems that is the situation.   Low feedback, relatively new, confused seller.

I told seller about postage due, told me it's out of his control, Besides who prints out a .53 cent label and then tapes it to yellow padded envelope?

I have had other postage due and those sellers did reimburse me for postage.

Ebay won't do anything because you accepted the package and paid.

What do you want ebay to do? Send someone over to their house and wreck up the place a bit?
