Hi everyone,
I’m trying to purchase an item on eBay and want to send an offer to the seller, but there’s a catch—I also have a coupon I’d like to use for the purchase. However, I’m concerned that once the seller accepts my offer, eBay’s system will automatically charge me, potentially bypassing my ability to apply the coupon.
Has anyone encountered this issue before? Is there a way to delay or prevent the automatic charge so I can ensure my coupon is applied before payment goes through? Any insights or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help.

Coupons cannot be mixed with offers. Offers are stand-alone and you can't apply additional discounts.
If the seller is willing to accept your price, and if the item qualifies for the coupon, you can ask the seller if they're willing to lower the price instead of using offer since you have an eBay-sponsored coupon you want to apply.

The item I’m interested in qualifies for an eBay-sponsored coupon, but I was hoping to use an offer to get an even better deal. Unfortunately, as we all know, coupons cannot be combined with offers. I reached out to the seller to see if they’d consider lowering the listed price so I could purchase using my coupon, but they aren’t willing to adjust their price.
So here’s where I’m stuck:
Does anyone know of a workaround that would allow me to still benefit from the coupon discount without using an offer? I’m open to any creative solutions or suggestions, even if it means using a different purchasing strategy.

Which would generate a lower price, your offer or the coupon discount? If the coupon discount price is lower than the offer you considered sending, use Buy It Now and add the coupon code at check out.
You could also try sending an offer that would include the discount price as well as your original offer price, but if it is too low it could be declined and the seller could decide to block you or ignore any other offers from you. You can't expect a seller to send a counter offer if your initial one is too low.

Given that the coupon discount results in a lower price than the offer I was considering, it seems there’s no feasible workaround to send an offer and then apply the coupon at checkout. I recall that this was possible before eBay transitioned to the AutoPay option.
Does anyone know if there is a method to disable AutoPay or otherwise modify my settings so that I can send an offer and still have the opportunity to apply the coupon code at checkout? Any guidance or workaround that could allow me to bypass this limitation would be greatly appreciated.

Buyers have zero control over Autopay. But in this case it doesn't matter. Even without Autopay you can't use a coupon with an offer. From eBay's help pages: "If an item has a Best Offer or Offer to buyers, the offer takes priority, and the coupon cannot be applied." So no, there's no workaround. You have to choose either taking the offer or using the coupon. They can't be stacked.
