List View vs Gallery View

I'm a "List View" kind of person, but half the time while browsing when I click on a new page in the results the view defaults to Gallery View, which drives me NUTS! I hate Gallery view. Is there any way to permanently select List View as my default?

I'm having the same problem. And why does Ebay have to change their layout every six months? It drives me nuts. I swear it's just someones job to change everything just to stay employed.

Look in upper right (next to Best Match, etc)....click on the customize and that will give you options.....including list/gallery view.......  be sure to click apply when finished.

That said, every once and a while a page will come up with gallery instead of list.........but after I do the simple change (not customize)......List view holds again.

Having the same issue. Gallery view is horrible. I customized to have listings appear in listing view, not gallery. I've also noticed when I click on a listing and I wanna see what else this person is selling, I can click see other items or visit store. I always click see other items because then I don't have to see their store font and listings in gallery view. Yet ebay decided to make both links do exactly the same, show store font with listings in gallery view.

In the last few days it no longer holds.  Have to change it every time.

I would like to add that I use list view exclusively.  It is set in my customize your search settings.  Once in a while, though, eBay selects gallery view, and I have to go in and change it back.  Very annoying.

Good to know at least its not just something I'm doing or my computer at fault..!

As someone already said, I'm sure eBay has people messing with things on the site  for the hell of it,  just like a certain social media site where they're notorious for trying to alter things that work perfectly, until they don't any more.!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm sure it's some kind of marketing ploy to get your attention or gallery view has proven to make more sales. Tired of being manipulated by technology. There is often a reason behind  a  "glitch".

I'm not so sure.  How does it make more sales by shoving something you don't want down your throat?  Me, I hate gallery view, just like everybody else here.  When I somehow get pushed into a gallery view, first I look for the toggle to change it to list ... if I can't find that toggle, I leave, and nobody makes any money.

It's not just eBay. I have seen this behavior on other sites as well. Maybe a browser glitch but in my experiences this kind of thing has a reason and it usually involves making money or saving money.

Yes, the "list view" doesn't stick.  I have been trying to shop for the last few days and I wish that was the only issue I have been having.

click on a listing in a list to find out more

check out what else the seller is selling

SOMETIMES it opens a new window, sometimes NOT. 

I find I soon have LOTS of windows open, back button goes to some other page, and no matter what I do I am having issues getting back to the LIST that was first populated.  Sometimes I am stuck in a seller's STORE, even though I selected 'see other items'.   I have to often simply give up and start over.  

Have to add, though I am old, I am not stupid.  Though I am no longer a seller, I have been a buyer since 1998 as well and I am totally frustrated!  Maybe I should use the app?????  LOL.

I hate gallery view and list view, as others have pointed out, does not stick. eBay, fix this!

The option to even change to list view is completely gone now . . .

Hopefully deleting the view option flyout from many of the screens is just another eBay "rolling bug" and will be fixed eventually.  I can't stand gallery view - especially on a full desktop screen. Also, adjusting thumbnail size has no effect on the size of the frame - which defeats the whole purpose of reducing thumbnail size in order to see more litems. Another weird implementation which hopefully is just a "rolling bug".
