One would think if there was any notification of access by an unauthorized third party, I would have heard about it. This is a laptop purchase, so a considerable amount. This has me thinking I should cancel.

Sounds like a seller that has been burned too many times by scammers. I am not sure this is in compliance with Ebay policy or not... nor does it really fix the "scammer" issue. I could type out something on an envelope and send them a pic. I guess they feel that a "bot" scammer won't waste the time. I cannot see how sending a pic of your name and address on an envelope would be harming you outside of your time and convenience....just depends on how much you want the item I guess. I would look at their feedback to see what others said. If they have only a few feedback, I personally would move to the next seller.

Where is the seller located?
Is he new?
You can ask the seller to cancel, but don't be surprised if he refuses.

Just some observations to consider. Your seller is offering some of the most high scam targets on this site as far as unsavory 'buyers' are concerned. It is highly likely that he/she has been burned in the past by buyers who know how to play the system and get products for free at the seller's expense. Might also be wary of "reshipper" addresses that have been involved with a lot of scams in the past for such products, thus asking for the "address" confirmation. Actually, you are going to have to provide your address anyway if you want to receive the item.
As always please actually read the feedback comments the seller has received, both the good and the bad.

How did you receive this message? Email or through eBay messages?
If you did not receive the message via eBay messaging, I would not reply.
If you have paid, you have already provided your verified shipping address so there should be no reason to do that again. If do not receive within the stated time, open an item not received case.
