Fastest checkout method

I have been chasing an item from a seller who lists things at exactly 7AM every day. When I click buy-it-now, I'm sent through the standard loop of buyer protection options, and then payment methods, and by then the item is already gone.

Is there a faster way to bypass the 'asking about protection', and 'payment method' screens? It seems that even the "we recognize you on this device" screen from paypal is delaying my checkout

Any help is appreciated.

Have you considered adding a payment method to your eBay account directly? That would at least bypass the "signing in to PayPal" delay. If your primary shipping address is set up correctly that should speed things up there as well.

How long does it take you to go from finding the listing to completing checkout?

@stoney_dukes,

Depending on what the item is, maybe ebay is pulling it for some reason, and that is why it is disappearing so quickly each day. If it was being bought by others you should ask yourself, why the seller doesn't list it with [ X ] available  [ Y ] sold?

If the item is selling so fast because it has a very low or too good to be true price, its being bought by other buyers before you can make a payment, might be a blessing, because it is a scam.

From watching the seconds approach the top of the hour and hitting refresh to try and time it right, to when checkout is complete is about 15-30 seconds.

@stoney_dukes,

While changing your payment method from PayPal to a card number might speed up the check out process by a few seconds, depending on your device's page loading speed. You may not be able to change it back to PayPal and enjoy their extended protections, if you do that.

IMO, there is something about the listing that is causing it to disappear or being removed by ebay so quickly.  Have you tried doing an advanced search for the item, entering the title & category info, then selecting Sold Items,   with the results page Sort set to Ended soonest, to see if any sales have been been recorded by the seller's listings?  if there are none then you will know that ebay is removing the listings.

The items are definitely selling. It’s not a scam. There are a number of resellers jacking the price up another 40-50% and reselling on eBay. Thanks for your input on the PayPal protection. I planned on switching that back to my payment method after I got the item I was chasing

@stoney_dukes,

If your seller's listings are actually selling that fast, go back to an Advanced, Ended listing search result from the seller. Open it and use the contact seller button, tell them about the issue you are having and ask if they will set up a private listing for your username, starting at a different time, so you can buy one. Maybe they'll do that for you.

Why not load and use a credit card added to your eBay check out/wallet instead of using Pay-Pal? Once you hit buy, it would go to your pay now screen, click pay, done after checking your ship to information. Using a credit card should give you the same protection as Pay-Pal.

Charge backs through Pay-Pal, would still be done through/by the credit card used.

If this seller has a good track record, using a Visa Debit card, should work fine loaded to your wallet. Using either credit or debit card that way, would save you from opening that extra window.

Aha! That's it, then. This is happening with golf clubs, PC graphics cards, and deep s** f***ing reels: The resellers have bots snapping them up, then resell at a profit on their selling accounts.

The bot can do what I can’t: Every three seconds, the program checks **** listings for various PC graphics cards. If they’re back in stock, the bot will automatically complete the checkout process—at a rate far faster than my mouse clicks could ever do.

It's next to impossible to pay fast enough manually, up against the buying bots.
