I browse ebay for fragrances on a weekly basis and every week I come across hundreds of counterfeit items, many from China. Parfums de Marly and Tom Ford for $100. All fakes. I've reported many of the items to ebay. One was removed, one said they didn't see an issue, several non-responses. Ebay doesn't seem to care that thousands of items are counterfeit and consumers are being scammed. I reported the issue to the FTC. Be careful when buying.

I"m surprised that you even received one reply. eBay does not take the word of one individual member to take down a listing, it would take reports from several unique members. After all you could be a competitor trying to hurt the competition. The item that was removed likely received many Item Not As Described disputes for being a counterfeit item. You have been a member long enough to know that 99% of the brand named items sold by chinese sellers are fake/counterfeit. When searching for items like perfumes, use the U.S. only button to keep most of the China based listings off the search results page, and check the feedback profiles of any seller you intend to buy from. Never go by a feedback percentage alone or the fact that a seller is Top Rated.

There is no possible way ebay can vet each one of the millions of new listings posted on the site daily. Those who take the time to read and follow the terms and time frames of the Money Back Guarantee (MBG) do not get scammed. The FTC and the FBI's ICC are not going to investigate individual sales/purchases. They want to go after the larger fish.

Since you also sell perfumes, Im sure Ebay sees you as just another disgruntled seller trying to get rid of the competition.

They are getting around this now. I've read several feedbacks that stated the seller is listed in the US and when the fragrance arrives, it's posted from an address in China.

Ebay primarily uses automation to investigate fraudulent items. And that is part of the problem. Sellers listing $400 bottles of Creed Aventus for $65. These are clearly counterfeit and ebay refuses to remove them. It only hurts legit sellers when these scammers flood the market.

Some countries have a bad record of selling fakes.
