how did a transaction fee get applied to an item I sold?

I sell items for a charity and 100% is donated to the charity.  I keep my own spreadsheet because I often refund over collected shipping.

In catching up on my spreadsheet, I noticed that a transaction fee was applied to a transaction.  I don't know where that came from or why it was applied to my transaction.  The person lives in IL - so international doesn't apply.

Any thoughts?

It would help if you could show a screen shot of the transaction fee you are questioning.  Just reading what you typed, that "transaction fee" could be almost anything.

I assume you are aware that eBay does impose Final Value Fees (FVFs) on everything you sell, meaning eBay will keep a percentage of the total amount paid by your buyer.  Those fees range from 3% to 15.3%, with most categories subject to a 13.6% FVF.

eBay also charges a per-order fee of 30 cents or 40 cents, depending on whether the total sale was less than or more than $10.00.
