I had a buyer ask me through message to send a link to other items that were listed? I didn't think I could do that but could I have sent him item numbers?
I guess how could I have directed him to my other listings without seeming to be 3rd party directing?
Is there not a way to directly discuss with eBay any more ?

Tell the buyer that all your other listings can be reached from any of your current listings using the "See other items" link under Seller Info, or directly from your Feedback or Profile page using the "Items for Sale" link.
The buyer can search within those listings using the search bar to find particular items of interest.

Thank you he requested through message rather than through the listing or something he had already purchased and received. He wanted a link or an item number .

Sending links or item numbers through eBay messages is not reliable -- it is hard to say in advance what the filters might catch or block. eBay is trying to block phone numbers and contact details.
You are better off providing an item title that the user can search through your listings for.

Thank you for your suggestion. I had thought that you couldn't send any item number or info through messaging. eBay customer service said I could. But I think I will refer to see other items the next time I get a message Thank you
