Hi guys,
I'm trying to figure out how to create a listing with variations. I've gone through eBay's help section and the things it tells me to do do not exist. I've looked through other answers to questions on this community but don't see any answers here either. I'm kinda thinking eBay has changed things and the help files are no longer relevant and the answers in the community are no longer relevant, I know the category is compatble because other sellers of the same items are able to create listing with variations. Here's a screenshot of one such listing.
I'm also wanting to create a listing exactly like this, different locations, you just select which location you want to buy and the price and photo will update accordingly.
But when I go to create a new listing there is no option to create a listing with variations.
When I go to create a listing I only see my templates to choose from, I don't see any 3 dots in the top right of the screen or any other place where I can select options. Here is a screenshot of my page to create a new listing (BTW I also pay for a basic store).
So pleae explain where I go to start creating a listing with variations. The help files state this:
I don't see any of the things mentioned here.
Thanks guys!

You can not revise an existing listing to add variations.
Variations are not available in all categories. If you do not see the variation option after trying these steps please reply back with what the item is you are trying to list.
To create a variation listing you will need to use the advanced listing tool that is located in Seller Hub. It can only be accessed from a computer, not the app.
To access Seller Hub:
1. Go to https://www.ebay.com/sh/landing
2. Click Start Using Seller Hub
3. Then, go here to your active listings page:
https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/active and click the blue Create listing button near the top, right-hand side of the page.
Variations can only be created when using the Buy It Now format.
If you do not see the variations option, click on the 3 dots on the upper right-hand side of the listing form, then select Settings (gear icon) and click on the variations toggle so it turns blue.
Here is a link with information regarding creating variation listings:
Please note: The Variation Attribute name cannot be the same as eBay's default item specifics.
You may also want to set up a calculated or flat shipping rule in your account settings so that your buyers pay the correct shipping for additional items when they purchase more than one from your listing.
Offer combined shipping and set up your shipping rule here:
On the listing form, select use my shipping rule after you set up the shipping for a single item purchase.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I was already using the Seller Hub.
So I went to my active listings page as you directed and clicked on the blue "Create listing" button and this is what I see:
Clicking on "Single Listing" takes me to my create listings page where I can choose to create a listing from my Drafts or my Templates. As you can see there are no 3 elipses for me to click on to be able to enable Variations.
This is the wall I keep hitting. I never seem to be able to find any place that allows me to enable variations.
Thanks for any further assistance.
As for the item I'm trying to list goes, it is exactly the same item the other seller was selling in my first screenshot in my first post. I'm basically doing the exact same thing as him with the same product, so I know it's not an issue with my listing being in an allowed category, I never get so far as to start a listing with variations to be able to select a category.

From the page you show above choose single listing then in the box at the top (tell us what your selling) enter the item you are selling and then the blue search button. Then on the next page that has select a match, click the continue without a match option at the bottom, do not select a match. Then select the condition and continue. This will open up the listing form. The variation section is just below the item specifics section.

Jesus what a pain in the a$$. 50 different steps and if you choose one wrong step you won't see what everyone else tells you to click on.
I followed your steps and when I got to the listing form I did not see the variations section below the item specifics section. At the very top of this page was the 3 elipses, when I clicked on that I had the option to choose "settings", when I clicked on Settings I got a new box that had the option to turn on variations. After turning that on I saw a new section below "item specifics" that said "variations". YAY! That was like pulling teeth, but thanks for pushing me in the right direction.

Your very welcome, I am glad you finally got them to come up.

I have one more stumbling block to overcome. I just want to have one variation, that being the location. So I created 1 attirbute called location. Then for the attribute "location" I added 8 options for the 8 different locations as shown here:
So now when I go to my listing it says I have 5 variations.
This is a problem because I need to be able to enter 8 different prices but it shows that I only have 5 variation combinations so I can only enter a price for 5 of my items. What am I doing wrong? Here's the section where I can enter quantities, prices, SKU's, etc.
Why are there only 5 showing up instead of 8?

Not sure why it is only taking 5. Sometimes it can be temperamental. Try saving for later and then opening it up again. That may bring up all 8. If not what happens when you try to add a new combination? Try adding the ones that are not showing up again. If it says you already have them then try deleting them and adding again.
I know it is frustrating, hang in there, you will eventually get it to work.

Let me " phone a friend "
@shipscript. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for providing screenshots. It looks like you've gotten excellent advice from @lisa5768 and @comics-scifi-collectibles
It appears that the three missing options are the last three that you had added. Go back to this screen and x-out all the options on the right. Then click again through your eight options on the left to select them to appear on the right.
If they still fail to appear on the matrix, there may have been some glitch that caused them to malfunction (this is not an issue that we normally see), as there is a not a limit of 5. Unfortunately, you will not be able to delete them from the left.
Although I'm leery of continuing if this is a glitchy list, you could try adding them again as duplicates to see if the tool complains. If the tool does complain, you can either change the names on your replacements (giving 11 from which to choose) or remove the variations and start again. When I sell-similar on my magazines by month, and need to make a slight change in a month, I just add a number or "spcl" to the duplicates and x-out the original month; so my list of variation attributes from which to choose has become quite lengthy, while I pick only a subset for each listing.
One way to start again is to add a second variation attribute (with a slight name change, like plural "Locations", or with a different name) and x-out the original attribute "Location". Then populate your second attribute with options. The unchosen attribute will not become a part of your listing, so shouldn't bring along any issues.

Thank you! I tried removing 3 from the right side then saving my changes, Went back to my listing and now it shows 4! LOL
So I went back and added those 3 back in and saved my changes and now it shows all 8 as it should. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe the fact that after initially adding all 8 I dragged them around on the right side of the screen to reorder them. Maybe that messed things up? That's the only plauisble explanation that I can think of. Of course that SHOULDN'T have messed up the count but it likely did.
Thank again!

You're right, rearranging should not cause a problem - I rearrange all the time. But it was probably a one-time glitch to simply top off the rest of your frustrations with getting into variations. I'm glad you got it working again. 🙂
