I am still learning, but apparently there is much to learn about shipping. I have recently started an interest in selling lower value coins and stamps. I noticed that some sellers are selling items for as low as $2.98 and still offering free shipping. How is this done? usually items selling at those low prices through E Bay would pay more for the shipping than for the price of the item. Any advice on how to do this ?

@michaedreie_0 If your item is in a category that qualifies and has a selling price of $20 or less you can use eBay standard envelope.
You can read about the envelope type and category requirements here:
Note that the shipping price is going up on July 10th

Some seller just ship with a postage stamp if the item qualifies for letter rate. Although then you will not have any tracking to prove delivery.

Thank you very much for this information.

Read about the standard envelope shipping option for stamps coins and cards - it is about the price of a stamp, but includes some tracking (it isn't a special envelope - it is a label that you put on a plain white envelope, or similar mailer) -

I have gotten some good advice, and understand how standard envelope mailing works. The problem is that the only listing tool I am familiar with as a relatively new seller is the listing tool that I get when I pull up the list and item page. Now here is what happens. I fill out everything and get to the shipping part. It has no option on that form for Standard Envelope. I did stumble onto a page that has a template that I can fill out. I do not know how to navigate back to that page. The template form did have a button that gave the standard envelope option, but that listing failed to list because I somehow hit the button for state sales tax, and it would not allow me to undo the mistake. Could you please tell me a step by step process for navigating to a page that will allow me to make a listing that will have the standard envelope option.

The easiest way would be to find a similar item, then under the photo, where it says 'have one to sell?' click sell now. i did this on a Michael Jordan card and it carried over the standard envelope shipping for me.
I can't see which listing form you are using, but try this. After clicking sell now, if you page doesn't look like this -
then in the upper right, see if there is the option to switch to the new listing form. That is the one in my screen shot above. The standard envelope shipping carried over form the item I used to to 'sell now' on this form. I did the sell now from this item - https://www.ebay.com/itm/394156251840?
If you are using the quick listing form, I can't see where the shipping choices are - since I use the advanced form, I can't look at the quick form. 😞
