Return requests

I sold an item and the description clearly stated its dimensions. Well, the buyer opened a return request with the reason - I don’t like it - it is smaller than I expected. eBay automatically accepted this return on my behalf. Why is EBay allowed to do this? My description clearly stated its size. Since when are sellers not allowed to reject returns based on reasons such as this? Will eBay allow me to inspect the return and make sure it is not damaged before I refund the buyer or will they automatically refund them once the tracking says delivered. Thanks.

Re: Return requests

Yes, but you used to be able to decide yourself if the return was warranted or not. If the size is listed in the description she should have known what size she is getting. Why do I even bother describing it at all! Even if I put no returns EBay would still foece  me to accept it based on their money back guarantee right? So it basically does no good to say no returns right?

Your return policy means that you accept returns for any reason and the policy you've selected has always meant that. If the buyer returns the item in a different condition than how it was received, you can report the buyer and reduce the amount of the refund, but you'll still need to refund.

Sellers who say no returns invite more item not as described case than others, may have their items appear lower in search results, definitely have fewer sales, and demonstrate to buyers that they really don't care whether the buyer is happy with the item or not. They are shooting themselves in the foot in my opinion (and in the opinion of all the buyers who won't shop with them due to their unfriendly terms of sale).

Re: Return requests

Thank you for your response. I’m starting to remember why I stopped selling on EBay.

Re: Return requests

If a seller has a No Returns policy, that is for buyer's remorse: changed mind, doesn't like it, doesn't fit, found it cheaper elsewhere.  For those reasons, the seller can decline the return.

When a seller has a 30 days return policy, it is for any reason.
