Reply message

I purchased an item and signed in as a guest . Now the buyer sent me a message that I need to reply too. I responded to them with my personal email. Will that work?

I logged into my account and changed my ebay password but the message isn't in my box. Please advise  Thank you

Items purchased as a guest are unrelated to your eBay account so you won't see your message there.

Did you use the Reply button on the message you received from the seller?

When you receive a member message through eBay to your external email, you may turn around the message, as with any regular email.  The member's name will display something like "eBay - jossaba-12 has sent a message".  But you will notice when you reply back through your own email system, the return address will be encoded with an alias that only eBay can interpret (something like joss_hq5589ueg@members.ebay.com ). The other member will receive that email in their eBay messages, with a copy sent on to their external email.

So, yes, if you just flipped the message, the seller will see it.

If, instead, you click the "Reply" button inside the message, you will be taken to your eBay messages where you can reply internally through eBay, and the seller would receive that message. But, you would need to be logged into your eBay account that received the message. Since I assume the message was sent to your guest account, you would need the login credentials of your guest account. If you look back through your eBay emails, you should be able to find the guest confirmation of your purchase, and that should guide you back to your guest account.

A guest account and a registered account are not connected (they are treated like two different people) , so a guest purchase can not be linked to your new account.
