I haven't been able to find any usable guidance for which keys the eBay search function might recognize so as to provide the specific search that I wish to enter. Common examples, such as the minus sign just before specific words which you do not want to be included in your search and quotation marks around specific terms that your search would require, using the plus sign to indicate that more than one term is required, and those terms must each be in the same search results. My specific dilemma is that I wish to find small parts for my car's removable hardtop. Unfortunately, with my search, I get all things related to my specific car, and all things related to hard tops in general.

Automotive part searches are difficult to do because many sellers include unrelated terms in the item-specifics which eBay uses to match to your search terms. Some of this can be overcome by choosing the proper keywords, narrowing the category, and then selecting filter options.
If you provide a link to your search or a description of your keywords and filter options, someone may be able to offer some practical suggestions or examples.
