Mandatory buying of insurance?

On July 9, 2023, the USPS is consolidating first class parcel, parcel select, and standard ground into one shipping method called Ground Advantage which will include $100 of insurance coverage.

That was my point, they are raising the rates to cover the insurance. Shipping prices, fees to collect state taxes, and the taxes themselves is really hurting business. I will now pack lighter to pay less on shipping, and collect the insurance when the package is destroyed. I do not know if they did not think of that or if that was part of thier plan. Some of my packages have gone up 600% at USPS because of thier length. That sent me to UPS where my shipping costs went up only 150%. Since the announcement of the new global shipping my international sales have stopped, not slowed, came to a dead stop. That is over half of my gross sales.
