eBay gift card 13 digit numeric redemption codes are applied during checkout when paying for items that were listed for sale & purchased on eBay. This is the only way to pay with eBay gift cards. Do not give your gift card redemption codes to anyone. Protect your cards as you would cash.
On your My eBay page / Purchase History
or on the listing page
or on your eBay purchase invoice
click [ Pay Now ] and proceed to checkout.
( 1 ) Verify that your shipping address is correct. Use the change link to make any necessary corrections.
( 2 ) If the seller offers more than one shipping method, select the one that you wish to use.
( 3 ) If you have a balance on a previously used eBay gift card, check off the small box to the left of the card info to apply the balance to your payment. Otherwise, input the redemption code & click [ Apply ]. You can apply up to 8 redemption codes during checkout.
( 4 ) If your gift cards are not sufficient to cover the full payment amount, select how you wish to cover the remaining portion.
Your only choices would be:
- Paypal ( using your Paypal account, funded however you choose )
- Credit or debit card ( paying as a Paypal guest )
Paypal Credit can’t be combined with eBay gift cards.
( 5 ) Review the checkout page to make sure all is correct.
Then click [ Confirm and pay ].
Notes about using Paypal with eBay.com gift cards:
- The seller must accept payment via Paypal if the buyer wants to use eBay gift cards during checkout.
- Buyers are no longer required to use ( or even have ) a registered Paypal account in order to pay with eBay gift cards. Just as a buyer can pay with a credit or debit card as a “Paypal guest” during checkout, eBay gift card funded payments can now be processed as a “Paypal guest payment” to the seller.
- They can if they want to, but they don’t have to. … Even if the eBay gift card balance is sufficient to cover the full payment amount, the buyer can choose to log in to their Paypal account before completing payment.
- If a buyer completes payment by logging in to their Paypal account, the payment transaction ( and any subsequent refund transaction ) will appear in their Paypal account.
- If a buyer does not log in to their Paypal account, the payment transaction ( & any subsequent refund transaction ) will not appear in their Paypal account.
Hold on to any gift card until:
- the balance is completely spent,
- you've received all of your purchases,
- and you know that you will not need to receive a refund.
