Excluding items when aearching

If I want to search for items on ebay such as automotive cards (baseball/football like trading cards but automotive related) how can I eliminate all sports related card items?

Try adding -footbal -baseball -basketball -sports to the search.

eBay has a category for "sports trading card" and for "non-sports trading cards" so use the filters on the left menu to select the non-sports collection.

Alternatively, it is possible to construct a search phrase that will eliminate some words.

To the right of eBay's search button is a link to Advanced search.

The advanced tool will help build a search by allowing you to include or exclude keywords. However, I don't think it will fully accomplish what you want.

It is also possible to control a search by manually constructing a search pattern using operators like commas, spaces, plus and minus symbols, and parentheses.

An example might be:

(automotive,car,truck,train,boat) trading card -(sports,football,baseball,diecast)
