Error during setting a bid

I received the following error during setting  a bid :"Your bid failed. Add your payment method again or try a different payment method before placing your bid."

eBay started experimenting with requiring pre-authorization of payment for bids in Spring 2023 (having experimented with Best Offers since Fall 2021 and making it permanent and universal in Fall 2023) and the test group has grown since then and you are in it.  Unless you provide a payment source (and shipping address so the amount can be calculated including shipping and taxes) AND the pre-authorization request is accepted by that source you will not be able to place a bid unless your seller has opted out of his/her listings being subject to that requirement.
