EBAY authentication process

Sold an expensive bag that was sent for authentication.  Received an email saying it didn't pass inspection. I am livid!! Authenticator claimed it had a smell and pictures didn't match listing! Wth? I cleaned the bag and conditioned the vachetta. So, now the buyer refused because she thinks there are defects.  I will never sell on Ebay again. I hope they lose lots of money on this idiotic service.

eBay's program specifically states that if there are scratches or smells not mentioned in the listing, the authenticators will give the buyer the option to decline. You could relist by mentioning what was used on the bag. Since the Authenticators do not know what that smell is, and thus the buyer won't know either, it is important to describe what was used to clean and condition the bag so that the buyer can say "fine, I recognize that smell and will accept that bag".

I cannot speak for the authentication, but when you are selling handbags you need to list any detail and what was done to the handbag.

If you sell a handbag as very good condition, and the inspector sees rips and tears, then they'll say it won't pass inspection as it did not follow what was described in the listing. Saying this as a true story and example.

I do not know what was your item listing and description so I cannot give feedback on that matter. I would inspect the handbag for any defects and list out anything done as far as cleanup or cosmetics and try again! I believe in you 🙂

I honestly did not know this service would be so picky.  Never in my life have I gone through this **bleep** selling anything.  There was no strong odor at all.  I have read numerous complaints about this service.  I don't know who they hire to do this but I'm positive people are leaving and going elsewhere to sell. I know I won't be listing anything else.
