Archive Function

I just tried archiving two listings, one at a time, and now I cannot find them. 

From the All Orders page I selected Archive from the Action drop down menu. The listing disappeared from that view. I expected to then see it in the Archived view but when I click on Archived nothing comes up, it says there are (0) items.  I repeated the process again with another listing and the same thing, now two listings have disappeared.

Where did these two listings go? How can I restore them?

Also, how is the archive function supposed to work, and what is the advantage or point of using it?
