is it OK to reuse Amazon boxes providing that previous shipping information is covered up?

By "OK" do you mean is it legal, or do you mean is the buyer going to be upset – maybe even angry – when s/he unwraps the package and sees Amazon written all over it? I've read many threads in these forums in which the original poster stated their animosity toward Amazon. I don't know why people hate Amazon, but it can't be denied that some people do.

< Do you happen to know whether Amazon has any policy about recycling its boxes. >
I couldn't find anything on an Amazon site that stated outright whether or not they approve of their boxes being reused. I found one Amazon site that mentioned reusing in the title, but then all it talked about was recycling the material, for example cutting a box into smaller pieces before relegating the cardboard to a landfill.
There are several non-Amazon sites that say it's okay, if you cover up all the Amazon labels to make sure the package wouldn't get misdelivered to a previous address.
My position is, who cares if Amazon has a policy is on reusing a box that came from them. How would they enforce consequences, if I flout that policy and reuse one anyway? I can't imagine Jeff leading a team of jack-booted thugs to kick in my door. 😃

Thanks Gos @gosimus !
I originally was going to answer exactly as you … including the possibility of negative buyer reaction … but questioned whether using the box could cause the package to be misdirected somehow. [I’m probably overthinking this and confusing it with using a Priority Mail box for other purposes.]
I think Jeff personally would likely appreciate the publicity using A’s boxes would generate. 😄
