Why if we are paying to sell an item and deside to trade it or swap it we are unable to list itthat way.

Chaarge me for the transaction as the product is listed in dollar amount.

What's to keep you and your trading partner from listing your items for $1 when they're worth $1,000, so you can cheat eBay out of the fee they would have gotten for the $1,000 sale?

Charge and list as an auction and pay fee if sold. Offer flat rate fee for swap. If undersold to bidder its their loss of sold before swap.
Of swap completed the fee would be set at the auction price listed. Every one is happy. If swap ing make sure swappers have a good rating and swap as is. We all know not everyone is honest and that includes regular auctions as well. This idea could be refined and work well.

Set real auction price open to public and swapped pay fee based on open bidding price set to all open bidding values. If bids are open to all it would be hard to give anything away that cheaply. Just another idea.
