question for you guys... am I missing something?

question for you guys... am I missing something?

Another seller said that the new feedback system does more harm than good, writing at an eBay discussion board, "By also removing years worth of feedback history from both buyers and sellers alike (any feedback older than 12 months is now ignored by the system), eBay has slapped millions of good eBayers in the face, rendering years worth of hard work and integrity meaningless: the worst buyer will now have perfect feedback as well. The worst seller will lose hundreds, if not thousands, of negative feedback from his or her feedback rating.

http://www.ecommerce-guide.com/essentials/ebay/article.php/3725461

this came from the following article I found on another community board talking about the "strike" of which dates I'm TOTALLY confused on because everyone seems to have different dates!

So does this mean we have our feedback rating "re-evaluation" for only our past year of selling? I don't remember reading this when I received notification of the changes!

That is the part I haven't been able to locate yet. But assume(which is probably wrong to do with eBay) that the changes will take effect when the new rules all go into effect.

I know that the new fees start Feb 20

Sometime in March the new search lists go into effect. Suspect that the PayPal changes will be about that time too as the one does affect how new sellers and ones with less than 100 feedback ratings will have to use PayPal for their auctions.

Bec, I haven't let them beat me, just changing up my options both on here and other places.

I personally shop alot with the same sellers! Take Heather for example, I order 50 sheets of cardstock, well they are changing it now that I will only be able to leave feedback for 1, not all 50. But on the up side If I buy from her 2 times in two weeks I can leave her 2 positive feedbacks!
It just all seems bizarre!
I am so angry though that all my feedback I have worked years for will just dissapear!

Feedback changes are not till May if I remember correctly.

You know there is a good side to the feedback only showing for the last year. Have you ever seen those big sellers who have like 20000 plus feedback and they can have like 15 negatives that month alone and still have a 98-99 score. It will do away with that.

My understanding is you will keep the total feedback number but the percentage will be calculated on what has transpired in the last year only. antq.freak/Michelle

That's the way I understood it too.

But that part about 100 feedback or rest will get some of us as we don't have 100 feedback in one year. Good sides and down sides on those new rules for feedback.

I know I am not awake yet, haven't had my first good cup of coffee yet.

That should have read 100 feedback or less.

But I believe the 1412 feedback you have now will count towards the 100 feedback wont it? Or are you thinking you have to start over every year? I think you keep your 1412 and just start over with the percentage every year.
Too confusing all of these changes. antq.freak/Michelle

Antq, if I understoond it correctly, your feedback rating is only to be the last 12 months. You won't lose your total but the last 12 months is what will be used to determine your feedback rating for the searches and such.

This will help the sellers that got negatives over 12 months ago as they will not show on their feedback rating now.

Say you had 1412 feedback with 3 negatives.

Now for the last 12 months, your feedback has been say 1000 and no negatives. So your feedback rating will be figured as 100% as the negatives were before the last 12 months.

Now the other part is also going to be figured on 12 months, those darling star ratings. If you stars are 4.5 or lower, you will be further down in the searches according to what the other sellers have that are in the same search. This is so confusing it isn't funny.

Two different ways to be graded. I feel like I am back in high school again. lol

I've been here for nearly 10 years and I remember when I first started buying/selling, people who remembered the sort of things I would buy would find things at yard sales and instead of listing them, just mail them to me and tell me to send what I thought was 'fair', I can't tell you how many people/items that happened with...that sort of thing would NEVER happen now...and with all the new fees and changes...so sad. I miss the old Ebay days.

Rachel, you and me both.

The dial up phone line.

Fees were paid in advance with a deposit into your account. Then as you listed the amounts were removed and when you ran low, you would be notified to send more funds.

Describing an item was fun as there were no pictures. But still we had great sales and buyers both.

Payment formes for buyers were MO, cashiers check or personal check (and we didn't hold the check either).

Total transaction time from auction ending to buyer getting item? 2 or 3 weeks. No hassles.

Feedback, the only negative was a non paying bidder.
And if you needed to get ahold of someone, you just left them feedback. emails were actually allowed and posted often.

Invoices? They were emails between the seller and buyer.

It was amazing how the whole system worked on trust. And it did work.

I think the world has got greedy! I wont buy anything other than in the craft section now!
I brought an expensive camera end of last year! And oh my the hassles I had! I wont go into details but went thru 3 sellers before I found one that genuine!
Same with tools I brought my husband some expensive tools for xmas and nothing but hassle! Shipping charges were extortionate.
I have NEVER had a problem with purchases on any scrapbooking items!
As a category during ebay's reviews I think we get completely overlooked!
To be honest and I will get shot for saying this, the new ebay rules apply to some categories! Like the camera scenario and the tools! But Scrapbooking & Crafts are different I said on an earlier thread I wish they branched out with electronics like they did with ebay motors! Different products/sellers Different rules/morals.
Well my 2cents for the day.

This is located in announcements if you wish to read the whole thing,
Sadly the scrapbook sellers don't get this fee schedule.

1. To make immediate changes where we believe it benefits the health of our marketplace: We heard your comments about the need for media and category-specific pricing. Today, I am pleased to announce we are accelerating our plan to phase-in category-specific pricing for media. This fee cut will coincide with the site-wide pricing changes previously announced to take effect on February 20. In the Books, Music, Movies and Video Game software categories, we will be offering even lower insertion fees for the first three insertion tiers as follows:

$0.01 – 0.99 (auction-style only)
Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ .20
New Media fee: $ .10

$1.00 - 9.99 (auction-style and fixed price)
Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ .40
New Media fee: $ .25

$10.00 – 24.99 (auction-style and fixed price)
Original Categories Insertion Fee: $ .60
New Media fee: $ .35

I just got a crazy email letter from Ebay stating that the reason that they are getting rid of listings under $1.00 is "to better serve the buyers." I thought, do you know how many people buy sheets of paper for 50 or 60 cents??? The buyer wants these! But Ebay seems to think the buyers don't.

I am constantly wondering where Ebay decision makers are getting their information from???!!!!

Ebay is only looking at the mass categories that make them money. They were looking for a way to make a big business decision and forget about the little guy because he/she does not make us enough. Sometimes businesses just have to do that to survive or they are greedy. I am thinking it was the later one (greedy)........
