Guide to Used Toddler Toys Cleaning and Safety
Hello! eBay is the best place to buy anything, even toddler toys for your newborns, but it is up to you to make sure those items are safe. I sell toys and always recommend this to my friends and family who buy from yard sales for their little ones:
Cleaning Plastic Toys:
Method 1 for Thick Plastic Chew Toys, Rattles Etc: Use a dishwasher to clean these, the heat will kill any germs and the soap will remove stains. Be aware that heat can change the structure of some plastics. Don't use this method on toys that contain liquids or fillings, toys with stickers, or toys that are glued together.
Method 2 for Toys with Glue such as toys with stickers or glued together parts: Wash them in your sink using hot water, dish soap and a sponge. Make sure you test the toys after washing for loose or peeling stickers
Miscellaneous: If you get a used toy that is stained, you can try rubbing alcohol to remove the stains. For stubborn stains, try cuticle remover. Allow the cuticle remover to set for 30 minutes before wiping off.
Note: For small toys and parts that you want to clean in the dishwasher, but don't want to lose them or have them get stuck in it, secure the toys tightly to the dish rack with twist ties or use a wire basket with a lid. Be sure to secure them tightly. (I learned this the hard way.

)
Stuffed Animals and Cloth Toys: Most toddler toys are well made, are meant to be chewed and put through the test of time. I recommend when buying used toys like these first put them in a plastic bag and store in your freezer overnight, this will eliminate any dust mites. Then you can wash them in your washing machine on low. Double check the item to make sure that it didn't get damaged in the washer or dryer. You can also use laundry mesh bags for these.
Whenever buying used toddler toys,
always safety first, check them for safety and clean before use!!!
