i use a sniping service for my usual 7 second snipe. i usually win but do lose from time to time. when i do lose i always feel good about it because:

A)i bid my maximum and wouldnt have been happy at one penny more and
B)i helped to boost the sale price for the seller and
C)if i'm not gonna be the one to get it at least the early proxy bidder who did win had to pay just a little bit more to get it. )

and THATS what bidding your maximum is all about whether you bid your maximum early or in the last 7 seconds and win or lose, i go away happy.

I just won an auction against a sniper. In the last minutes the sniper seriously drove up the bid. Funny thing about it is the sniper is a zero feedback bidder, and has had 3 bid retractions as the only feedback. More interesting still is that part of the snipers name is also part of the sellers email address. Very interesting. I have often wondered if sellers use sniping to drive up their own auctions at the last minute to get a better price. What do you think? First of all it wasn't a sniper it was a nibbler.
Second if you think it might be the seller nibbling up the price Report it to ebay for shilling. and let them sort it out.

I think I have won many bids with early proxy. I have only won a few by sniping, because I just bid what I can afford and go no higher anyway so it does not really matter when I bid. I did win one by last minute snipe the other day tho. Tara

However.........it did not win against a sniper. It was just a normal day in the life of eBay. A normal auction with two normal bids.

That is the way most auctions end.
