Auction & Buy It Now Question..please help!

Auction & Buy It Now Question..please help!

Hello, I'm Kaitleen. Im new to selling. I'm hoping someone can help me with this.
I put up an item to sell last night in the "Auction" listing style with the "Buy It Now" option..I did set a reserve price. There are currently 7 bidders. This morning two people email me and ask if I want to sell the item higher than the current high bid but lower than my "Buy It Now" price...I read somewhere that it violates ebay to end the auction to sell it to someone with a higher price than the current high bid.. and that the buyer also violate ebay policies to even ask that. Is that true?? I emailed the buyer back n invite them to bid or use the buy it now option if they want the item.
Thanks in advanced for your help!

Yes technically it's a violation but there's no reason to make a big issue out of that. Instead, your reply to offers can point out that you've gotten more than one and it "wouldn't be fair" to choose one. Then wish them good luck in their bidding. It would be OK to tell them the amount of  your reserve price.

You can save a  lot of money by just starting the bidding at a price you'd be willing to sell for rather than setting up a Reserve. Also, some potential buyers dislike reserves so much, they'll just hit the back button when they see that an auction has an unmet reserve.

You're selling like a pro!

Most of us have found success in either ignoring requests to "End Auction Early" or simply inviting that prospective winner to "join the fun" and place their bid.  (some sellers place such bidders on their Block Bidder List).

I agree. These requests, however, may come from buyers who are unable to wait up until the auction ends (especially, with 10 days left) and would love to purchase the item right away. I say, that if, and only if, the offer they make sounds reasonable, I see no reason not to accommodate the wish. I did this a couple of times, and in both cases the transaction went to our mutual satisfaction.

You have 0 feedback as a seller and have 2 expensive bags for sale. Be careful and make sure you ship properly.
