Very old hand carved wood

This is hand carved, with many very tiny inscribed names dates and numbers.  I bought it as a ivory candlestick holder.  There are also tiny wires running through it everywhere, they are not metal.  Any help would be great!!!!

Well, sorry, but my old eyes don't see numbers, letters, or wires.  All I can say is that it looks like a chess piece, and it looks like the base and upper part didn't start out life together.   But this may help others:

Just occured to me:  By "wires," could you mean Schreger lines, which are seen in ivory?  Like this:

Nope ...wires at every corner. The picture with a pen pointing at them. They are stranded and go around upper perimeter and out each corner.  I broke one off and it is not metal.

The actual ivory doesn’t matter to me.  When you look at it with a magnifying glass there are names and numbers all over it.

Your close up pics are very blurry and very poorly lit. You say you can see these lines and numbers clearly with a loupe. My advice: use the macro setting on your camera and pretend we, the viewers are able to see  that same detail (which now we can't).  Keep taking those pics until they turn out clear and well lit. You will probably get better answers.

Plus, lose the rag and only have one color backdrop as all the surfaces/colors are hard to see thru.
