We appreciate your continued patience as we complete work on remaining Seller Hub and item specifics issues that occurred during our October 15 update. Please be assured that these issues are our highest priority and we’re working around the clock to resolve them. Again, we apologize for any disruptions.

Seller Hub issue:

We have completed the backfilling of missing sales data between Oct. 12-Oct. 15 in the Seller Hub Performance tab. As the backfilling of data happens in stages, some sellers may experience an additional delay of data between Oct. 18 - Oct. 22. We are actively working on speeding up the process for those sellers. We will provide another update once fully complete.

Item specifics issue:

Important reminders for sellers:

For existing and revised listings:

  • If you already entered a value in one of the old sizes fields (e.g., Shoe Size) you do not need to update the corresponding required item specific as the value you entered is still there as an additional or custom item specific. Your listing will still be found by buyers using search filters, including the left-hand navigation filters, which have been restored for most categories.
  • If any recommended or additional item specifics aren’t relevant for your item, you don’t have to fill them in when you create or revise listings.
  • So that you won’t have to do any additional work, we will copy the old item specifics values in the new item specifics fields. Please note, we will not be able to copy data for multi-variation listings, so we encourage you to fill in the required fields so they don’t appear blank.

For new listings:

  • You should use our item specifics guidance and provide all required item specifics.  Please do not fill in item specifics that are not relevant to your item.
  • In certain categories, UPC product identifier will show as a required field with no “Does Not Apply” option. If you do not have a UPC, please leave the field blank and do not insert random numbers.

What we’re working on:

  • We’re in the final stages of testing a solution to copy the old item specifics into the new item specifics and expect to implement this by the end of the week so your required fields won’t remain blank.
  • We are still resolving the issue that is causing all item specific values to show when filtering on a more granular basis (e.g., a listing categorized by women’s dresses are showing all men’s and women’s values). This does not impact your ability to list your item with the appropriate item specifics values.

Next steps:

To ensure we are addressing all related item specifics issues you are facing, we’d ask you to let us know about any other issues you might be having via this thread on Community. Please provide details including screenshots and steps to recreate the experience you’re having, and we will share them with our product teams.

We will post a new status update on this board tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23. Until then, thank you for your patience and for selling on eBay.

October 21 announcement:

We’ve heard from many sellers about Seller Hub and items specifics issues that resulted from the October 15 update. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration. Until the issues are fully resolved, we will provide you with regular updates so you can focus on what’s important to you and your business.

Seller Hub issue:

Last week, as part of a Seller Hub data update, we experienced an outage of the Seller Hub Performance tab. The issue was resolved and we are now working to retrieve any missing sales data between Oct. 12- Oct. 15. We are working hard to complete this by Wednesday, Oct. 23, at which time you’ll be able to use all Performance tab reporting features.

Item specifics issue:

Sellers were unable to revise or create new listings in some categories. We’re pleased to report that sellers can now revise existing listings and create new listings, provided that required item specifics data has been entered.

Current situation:

  • In certain fashion categories, UPC product identifier number shows as a Required field with no option to select “Does not apply” from the dropdown menu. If no UPC exists, you can still complete your fashion listings by leaving this field blank. Please note that some sellers have been typing “Does not apply” in the field, but this isn’t necessary, and is not recommended. If you do not have a UPC, do not enter anything—leave the field blank.

  • Certain categories that normally would filter item specific values on a more granular basis (e.g., a listing categorized by women’s dresses would only show dropdown values specific to women’s dresses) is currently not working, and is showing all item specific values (e.g., men’s and women’s values). We are working to rectify this issue as soon as possible. This does not impact your ability to list your item with the appropriate item specific values.

What we’re addressing now:

  • We have created a solution to copy the old item specifics values into the new item specifics values. Once fully tested, we will roll out this solution to fully restore all missing required item specific fields. We will provide an update on timing for this later this week. We will not be able to copy data for multi-variation listings, however, so we encourage sellers to fill in the required fields to ensure they don’t appear blank.

Important reminders for sellers:

  • Your listing will not be blocked from being relisted or revised because a required item specific is blank. If you already entered a value in one of the old size fields (e.g., Shoe Size), the information is still there as an Additional or custom item specific. You can revise your listing without adding the corresponding Required item specific, but we strongly recommend you also fill it in. Behind the scenes, we are mapping the values entered into the Additional item specifics fields (e.g., Shoe Size) into the Required ones (e.g., Size) to help you.
  • The left-hand search navigation used by buyers has been restored with most item specifics. Except for a small number of categories, your listing will appear in all relevant search results when using the left-hand navigation filters. We are working to fully restore all categories and will provide another update on this later this week.

Next steps for sellers:

You should continue providing all of the required, recommended, and additional item specifics for new listing and relisted items as requested in the October 15 item specifics update.

We will provide regular updates through this announcement board and you can expect the next update from us on Tuesday, October 22. In addition, we are scheduling a Facebook Live with our item specifics team to help answer your questions:

Facebook Live on Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. PST here

We appreciate your attention to this and as always, thank you for selling on eBay.

October 18 announcement:

We thank you for your continued patience as we work through the issues associated with the Oct 15 Category update rollout.  Our intention is to provide you with as much information as possible and we apologize for any frustration.

The issue we just addressed:

Certain item specifics such as size were missing in the left hand navigation.  The left hand navigation filters are now fully restored with all available item specifics.  Your listings will appear in all relevant search results when using the left hand navigation filters.

What we’re addressing next:

To ensure the required item specific doesn’t continue to appear as blank, we are working to copy the old item specifics values directly into the new required item specific.  For example, in fashion, copy the old item specifics Size (Women’s), Size (Men’s) directly into the new item specifics *Size*. We will provide an update on this on Monday.

 Important reminders for sellers:

  • Your listing is no longer blocked from being re-listed or revised because the required item specific is blank.  Behind the scenes we have mapped the new item specific to the original item specific.
  • Left hand navigation filters are fully restored with all available item specifics.  Your listing will appear in all relevant search results when using the left hand navigation filters.

Next steps for sellers:

We will continue to communicate updates through this announcement board and you can expect the next update from us on Monday, Oct 21.

Until then, you should continue providing all of the required, recommended and additional item specifics as needed. You do not need to revise those item specifics that are appearing blank.

We appreciate your attention to this and as always, thank you for selling on eBay.

October 17 announcement:

Our technical teams have been working around the clock to resolve two issues caused by the Oct 15 category update rollout:

  1. An issue that prevented sellers from re-listing or revising listings in certain categories
  2. Search using left hand navigation filters is missing certain item specifics such as size

We recognize that in our desire to deliver an enhanced site experience, we have caused issues for our sellers and we apologize for this.  Our intention is to provide as much detail as possible to help you manage any impact to your business.

Background:

As announced in the Fall Seller Update, we are working to make it easier for buyers to find your items and give you guidance about item specifics.  In doing so, we have been migrating categories into three types of item specifics - required, recommended and additional.  As we roll out these changes, item specifics in certain categories may change, be added or removed, so that we can create better descriptors, which help to further index the listing in search and provide better visibility to buyers.  For example, the various item specifics that represent size in the sub-categories of clothing, shoes and accessories (ie:  Size (women’s), Size (men’s)) were updated and consolidated into one normalized item specific - size.

Current Situation:

There was a technical issue and some of the item specifics did not update correctly. As a result, some listings were blocked during re-list or revision.

In addition, the new, required field is showing up as blank and the listing appears incomplete.

This issue also created a problem in search, with the new item specifics not appearing in the left hand navigation search filter.

Important update:

As we work to completely resolve this issue and ensure item specifics are mapped correctly to the new item specifics, you can take note of the following:

Your listing is no longer blocked from being re-listed or revised because the required item specific is blank.  Behind the scenes we will map the new item specific to the original item specific.

Next steps for sellers:

For now, you should continue providing all of the required, recommended and additional item specifics as needed.  For the required item specifics that are blank, no action is required on your part - we will map the fields on the back end.  Additionally, we are working on a solution to create a copy of the old item specifics data and copy it into its new equivalent so the required item specific will be automatically filled with the same value.

We’re aware that some sellers have chosen to end their listings and use the ‘sell similar’ feature to change the information in their listings. We do not recommend doing this. However, if you decide to, please 1) check your remaining free listing allowance first to avoid incurring additional insertion fees, and 2) be aware that ending a Good ‘Til Cancelled listing will remove its sales history.

We will continue to update this announcement with news as it becomes available.

We appreciate your patience and as always, thank you for selling on eBay.

October 15 announcement:

We've received reports of technical issues in Seller Hub, including sales graphs not being up to date, as well as problems when revising or creating listings within Clothing, Shoes and Accessories categories.

We'd like to assure you that eBay is aware and we're working on fixing both issues as a high priority.  Please check back and we will update this post when it’s resolved.

We apologize for any inconvenience and as always, thank you for selling on eBay.
