Here’s a reminder of fast approaching dates for the 2012 Spring Seller Update, originally announced in February:

  • Changes to the eBay Top-rated seller program coming soon—take action now! Important updates to the Top-rated seller program will be coming next month:

    • Keep your Top-rated status: Starting with the June 20 evaluation cycle, to achieve and keep your Top-rated seller status, tracking information or a Delivery Confirmation number must be uploaded to eBay—within your stated handling time—for at least 90% of your items sold to US buyers over the period of May 1 through May 31. If you won’t meet this requirement, start uploading NOW to recover your Top-rated seller status in July. The July 20 evaluation will look at the period of May 1 through June 30. The August 20 evaluation—and each monthly evaluation after that—will look at your transactions over the past three months. And don’t forget: with eBay Labels, tracking info is uploaded automatically!

    • Maximize your benefits: Also, to get the most benefit from being a Top-rated seller, be sure to offer 1-day handling and a 14-day or longer return window with a money-back refund option on as many of your listings as possible. As a Top-rated seller, it’s your choice whether to offer these services, but starting June 1, only your listings that offer both will qualify for the greatest average boost in Best Match and 20% final value fee discount.

    • Check Selling Reminders on the My eBay All Selling page or the new Listing Improvement section of the Selling Manager summary page to see which listings need to be updated to meet these new standards, and then easily edit those listings in bulk. You can also track your progress in your Seller Dashboard.

    • On June 1 the sales volume requirement to be a Top-rated seller goes down to $1,000 annual sales. Track your progress toward these new requirements in your Seller Dashboard.

  • The 3-day and 7-day returns windows and “Merchandise credit” and “Exchange” options for new listings and relistings were retired on May 2. Update your Good ‘Til Cancelled listings with a 14-day or longer returns window now. Note: if you are a Top-rated seller, this will be required for your listings to qualify for the 20% final value fee discount starting June 1.

  • Manage your business policies from one location—once available to you, opt in to a new way to create and manage custom payment, shipping, and return policies and apply them to listings quickly and easily. This new functionality will be available to all sellers later this summer.

  • eBay Top-rated sellers: An optional new way to manage returns virtually automates the process according to the terms you specify. Your buyer clicks a link in My eBay to print a pre-paid, trackable USPS® shipping label. When you get the item back, simply click a button to issue the refund. Your final value fees are automatically refunded. This new functionality will be extended to all eBay Top-rated sellers by the end of June.

  • Start now to update your pictures to meet the new picture quality standards coming this fall. Your listings will benefit immediately and you’ll be all set when the new requirements go into effect—so be ready to load up when all pictures will be FREE on all listings submitted starting on July 2 (excluding eBay Motors vehicles). Check out the NEW eBay Photo Center for tips on how take and edit pictures to help sell your items.
